I feel like more people need to know about this mod...

I’ve been looking at lot downloads lately and seeing the creator of it mentioning or people commenting about doors sticking open when there’s an object – like, say, a ceiling light or a plant on the floor – occupying the same tile as the door.

There is actually a mod that fixes this, over here on Feenwald. It doesn’t seem to be well-known, though; I only happened to discover it relatively recently, myself, when I was cruising that site looking for something else. I imagine this would be useful not just for playing but for picture-taking for storytellers. Doors stuck open would be annoying for that. :)

This is SO needed especially for machinima creators! Can’t believe I didn’t know it existed until now.

I’ve been using this mod for a long time and second the recommendation! It’s great, especially if you tend to build smaller lots where objects might end up on the same tile as a door out of necessity.

Shut. The. Front. Door.

I’ve been playing this game forever and thought that not being able to place anything near doors was just a sad reality.

I’ve been having a lot of fun working on Widespot, and dabbling in a couple of other ‘hoods, as well. Sadly, as I was starting to actually play I realized that something is causing Sims to respawn at home after they’ve left for work.

Taking my Downloads folder out seems to have fixed the problem, so now I’m going to try to find the source. I’m pretty happy that I just recently started playing again with a fresh DL folder, so hopefully this won’t take too long.

Also, I’ve been playing this game since it came out and have never had to do this before!

How to take advantage of the kitchen in a small home ?

Well, nobody asked for this but a long time ago, when I needed to do this, I had no idea how simple it could be. So I thought I should share some tips and links for people who are struggling with their tiny apartments (and this is also an excuse to share a repriced version of HW’s shelves).

See the picture. With only 4 tiles, your Sims can get :

  • all the kitchen appliances
  • readable books that work like bookcases
  • fire alarm
  • table lamp
  • telephone
  • stereo
  • a small TV

This is FULLY FUNCTIONNAL and there is still space for deco clutters !

Explanations and links under the cut.

I’m going through this weird thing where I keep loading Sims 4, loading my current household, closing the game, loading Sims 2, loading a family in one of the neighborhoods I’ve been thinking of playing with, and then closing it.

This cycle may repeat itself 2 or 3 times before I ultimately run out of time to play either game.

But anyway, I miss the game, and all of you. I’m currently trying to tackle the impossible and get “caught up” on several months worth of posts on here  o.O

On top of life-in-general, I’ve been busy with a lot of long overdue projects around our fixer-upper of a house. I haven’t been Simming*, and definitely haven’t gotten on Tumblr much, and hope I’ll eventually have a chance to get caught up on most of what I’ve missed :(

Anyhow, I’ve been playing Sims 4 in my downtime. I started a low-key photo album from my neighborhood over here: thepukingmoose.tumblr.com.

*The general term obviously still refers directly to The Sims 2 because it’s #stillmysims, even if I’m doing something different for now.

Sims 4?

So, I’ve been interested in giving Sims 4 another shot* - I haven’t tried it since it was still fairly new - and I’ve got a question for those who play TS4. If I found the base game kind of lack luster, but have been interested in some of the later expansions, do you think that Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get to Work, and Get Together would be a good start to get me in to the game (all on sale right now)? Or would that leave out anything (except for Seasons, obviously) that really makes the game?

I know it’s a matter of opinion, just wanted to see how other simmers felt, since this would be a pretty big investment for me.

*Definitely not abandoning Sims 2, but looking for something a little more casual that I can play without getting obsessed with every aspect of world building.
