Most likely some stuff, with a high probability of nonsense. Primarily art, anime, games and bits that grab my attention

Pleased to announce the vanity publication of my first, and likely only, children's book (extremely limited run, of one copy. Collector's edition??).

Based on the antics of our cat, and bound by my own fair hand. I took the liberty of writing a few reviews on the back.

Once I had the idea, I couldn't rest until I'd finished the book. I've only more recently tried to learn to draw and only really done a couple of month-long challenges, in pencil, monochrome. So there was a bundle of new skills to learn while doing this one which is just the way I like it.

Based on the concept of a book I had as a child, Molly Mouse goes Shopping, I thought it'd be cool to hang one set in your own house, featuring your own pet. We'll see if she likes it...

Sorted out the 'plot' (such as it is...), took reference pics of each location, then worked on the cat itseld, to ensure it looked suitably outraged/cheeky, like ours does all the time.

Drew on paper, inked on paper, took pics of the pencil and inked drawings.

Coloured the inked drawings using Gimp, worked out the layout in PowerPoint.

Figured out the best use of flaps and such, printed extra flap s and glued them on. Then figured out how best to bind it, et voila.

Not quite King Lear, but then, I'm not a billion monkeys at typewriters...

Overall, there are a few little bits I'd change but I'm pretty pleased with this project.

Some of the lockdown 'destinations' we've been visiting these last few weeks. I don't normally go many places anyway, but it's nice to have something to mark the weekend, since work and home are the same location for all of us just now. And I DO love powerpoint, so of course I like to make menus and posters for where we're going...

Cluedo study sign, pictures and coasters

As usual, I got a silly idea and extrapolated it out to even sillier lengths. Wanted a study sign for after we tidied it up a bit, once I hit upon the cluedo idea, I thought it’d look daft to stick our heads on the player cards.

I know I probably make things unnecessarily difficult for myself by insisting on using PowerPoint for templates, but I had to do a bit of resizing as although I’d sized the slide to a4, and sided the cards to 15cm x 10cm (size of the frame), it came out half a centimetre too wide, and 1cm too tall?? Ah well, the quirks of the system I’ve imposed on myself. The coasters also came out about half a centimetre too big, and needed fixed. Next time I’d sort the sizing, then do them all.

I then saw these cool coasters that look like Polaroid photos, that you can put your own photos in, and had to go one further and add in the weapons. Once I’d completed the weapons, I had the idea to swap to the keyboard dagger symbol, seeing as I write in the study.. It was kinda challenging to find a substitute for the revolver, and I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the stapler, but I only have 4 coasters, so I guess I don’t need to use that one if I don’t want to.
