For people who don’t read the article, what happened was that it was found that girls from 70 Australian schools were targeted by a porn site, with guys requesting pictures of specific girls and stuff.

The girl’s school, instead of lecturing the boys about treating their female peers like objects and posting pornography of girls as young as 12, decided to lecture the girls about makeup and and skirt length.

I’m so proud of this girl for standing up for herself and her peers!

Holy fuck a porn site was literally trying to spread child pornography and the school lectured the GIRLS????? WHAT IN THE ENTIRE FUCK????

Burmese monk Wirathu is on the cover of July 2013 Time Maganzine. Wirathu has been leading a plot to ethnically cleanse the Rohingya people. The Rohingya people are Muslims. He has compared Muslims to “African carp” and has described them as “quick breeding and violent.” His speeches have been blamed for the rise of violence against the Rohingya people. In his recent sermon, he described the reported massacre of schoolchildren and other Muslim inhabitants in the central city of Meiktila in March, documented by a human rights group, as “a show of strength” The Muslims are suffering. Please keep them in your duas(prayers).

It was “has been leading a plot to ethnically cleanse the Rohingya people” and now, 2015, they’ve done it. Rohingya Muslims are banned from their own land and they’re seeking refuges. I don’t know how to signal boost this situation since I don’t have that many followers.

The present Myanmar govt is known for its oppression of political freedom- but it too has a very long history of oppressing non-Burman and non-Buddhist ethnic minorities. And the Buddhist clergy has been complicit in this too.

This continued repression has led to an exodus of Rohingya Muslims trying to escape to other Asian countries via boats, but few countries are willing to take them in and have been turning away the boats. Thus, many are stranded at sea right now.
