For context: Japan’s birth rate has been dropping for a long time because the pressures of capitalism (especially in over crowded cities) has created such high levels of stress that people cannot imagine having kids. The president is trying to use anime to popularize the idea of having kids in an effort to reverse course. Naturally, this completely misses the point of what caused the drop off in the first place and will likely be completely ineffective.

Hey!! I’m super nervous about this but ADHD Awareness Month is winding down and I really wanted to share some information on rejection sensitivity before it ended. This is a defining feature of ADHD that is often overlooked, despite how harrowing it can be for those of us who experience it! My main goal here was to remind my fellow ADHDers that they are not alone!

In addition to the above broad categories, I wanted to list some examples of silly things that can trigger my RSD if it’s a really bad day:

* If I say “I love you” to someone I love and they respond “you too” instead of saying it back.

* If I make a joke and someone doesn’t laugh as much as I had hoped.

* If I message someone and they don’t respond as quickly as they usually do.

* If I do something wrong even SLIGHTLY, like if I forgot to do some small admin thing for my boss at work and my immediate reaction is panic and “oh my god he’s mad at me he’s definitely mad at me” (spoiler: he’s not and he never is as long as it really is small)

* If I offend someone I love even slightly and they call me in, like if I say something that is unintentionally classist and one of my closest people says eh that’s classist and here’s why. It doesn’t matter how gentle they are if it’s a bad day. I also still want them to do it, even if I have to take a deep breath and wipe my eyes!

What has helped RSD for me is

1) Ritalin

2) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

3) A general habit of just taking a deep breath and reminding myself that I am well-liked and that this will be okay.

RSD for me, when it’s more severe, feels like a sudden stabbing sensation right below my sternum, followed by my stomach feeling like it’s flipping over, like when something bad happens and you immediately lose your appetite.

About Black Forest Cake

Okay I’m going to try to properly put my sheer rage and disgust into a proper text post because someone needs to say it.

Black Forest Cake is a nazi. This is not a coincidental thing. It is deliberate coding. 

Her saying alone  “Rules and laws are set for us to do better, not to be disobeyed and broken!” is totalitarian enough as is but let’s get into her backstory.

In her backstory it states that she was a dictator who took control of a small village and forced the villagers to work against their will making Black Forest Cakes for her, regardless of their physical health (“even the ill were not allowed to rest.”) and wouldn’t allow anyone to leave. When the village started to trade with other places the villagers got a taste of freedom and wanted to escape. However, those who tried to escape had fallen angels sent by her to attack them.

Does that sound familiar? Because it should. Forced labor was a very core part of the concentration camp regimen. And her sending the fallen angels after those who tried to flee can easily be compared to SS soldiers siccing guard dogs on helpless prisoners. 

I mean there are even elements incorporated into her design (which i unfortunately didn’t notice the first time around because I didn’t pay her that much attention) 

She looks like a character you would see in a fascist anitwitter user’s icon. Her hat especially looks almost exactly like an SS officer’s hat. Specifically, it is easily comparable to an artillery officer’s hat. 

Just take away and add in a few elements and there you go. You have Black Forest Cake’s hat. 

Oh but if you think the troubling elements stop there, I’m sorry to say it just gets worse once you add Spaghetti into the mix. 

Spaghetti is the one who convinced her to open trading for the village but at the end of her story he apparently apologizes for proposing the idea of trading and tries to comfort her by saying something the lines of, “Don’t blame yourself. Humans couldn’t possibly understand us.”  

So we have a German dictator with an Italian ‘ruler’ who sympathizes with her and supports her cause. 

Does that sound familiar? Because it should. 

With all of these elements taken into account. There is no way to call it a simple coincidence. Funtoy knew what they were doing with this. They took a German dish and turned her into a nazi. 

Now I will be the first to say that I am just a gentile, I am not actually Jewish. However, I’ve spoken to someone who is Jewish about this and she fully believes this to be the case as well. In fact she was the one who pointed out the parallel with BFC and Spaghetti to me. 

So yeah. 

I don’t want to see any of you calling her your cute little waifood or whatever anymore. 

She’s a nazi, and unless you are Jewish, I don’t feel like hearing any arguments against this. The parallels are clear and blatant and the intent has made itself more than known. 

Oh. My. Gosh. Where do I even begin.

If they were so dead-set on evoking a sense of Black Forest Cake‘s birthplace, there are so many other ways to do that! I’m not even that familiar with German culture, and I’m barely German (go back in my lineage far enough and you might find some German and/or Dutch idk), and here’s what I got after barely five minutes of thinking:

Imagine if they had dressed Black Forest Cake in a stereotypical Oktoberfest kind of outfit. She can still have the pigtails, her hair in braids. (Also, Black Forest Cake and you don’t give her black hair? Really? Come on. Let yourself be a little obvious every once in a while!) Your mileage may vary, but I think that would be a lot cuter. A much more valid comija (comida + hija = food daughter), that’s for sure.

And since they love giving characters tragic backstories, why not evoke the Grimm brothers’ collections of fairy tales? Maybe she had run-ins with big bad wolves or cannibalistic witches in the woods. I don’t know!

Buuut at this point there’s basically no way they’re gonna change it so I’m just gonna go in the corner with my new Black Forest Cake OC that I just came up with in response to this.

not to be a wet blanket or anything but like. when your ironic humor gets to the point where its indistinguishable from the real views of actual shitty people and you accidentally platform those actual shitty people bc you think theyre being ironic.. maybe its not good humor! maybe its time to dial it back a little bit!
