Hello internet. I'm still alive.
I do love how my bun hops around like a curious critter during morning stretches.
I did the thing and made an Instagram for the bun. Probably will cross-post here too.
The cool new trend will clearly be vegetable-inspired rabbit yoga.
The (unaccepted) Cell Host and Microbe cover proposal for a colleague's great study on the microbiome and its role in regulating skin physiology. I had a lot of fun with this one - microbe minions for the win. In a bit of cool irony; the study that was selected for highlight on the cover focused on the same group of (fairly understudied) viruses that I worked on for most of my PhD.
Three of my favorite cards for the Beiting Lab.
Forgot I had this ready to post a few months ago! Don’t think it turned out that well, but I’ll definitely be revisiting Avatar-themed birthday cards.

Ghostly cats.
Oh cat, you were always sleeping anyways.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a digital illustration, let alone one of Rainbow Kid. A fairly quick doodle with a sloppy background, but I had this idea for some time.
A card whose color scheme conveniently fits the season.
Also I bought myself the first and second manga box sets earlier this year and am slowly going through them and it is wonderful.
Monsterology!
My friends’ podcast series on the speculative science behind monsters launched this summer! Yours truly made the logo and the (hidden) profile pics.
Some images for the Penn Center for Research on Coronavirus and Other Emerging Pathogens. An efficient re-purposing and re-emphasis of the Global Virome.
It’s been neat seeing my classmates and colleagues ramp up research on SARS-CoV2!
Mid-summer birthday cards!
A few Solstice photos for Tumblr from last night. I went for a walk at about 10:45pm and took a few pictures from the hills. The sunset ended around 11:10pm. It felt old on the hills, which are, I read once, the oldest exposed rocks in the world, apart from the Himalayas.
Black Lives Matter. And it is the obligation of each and every one of us to actively pursue justice, equity, and visibility in order to realize the truth of these three words.
Science, as much as it likes to believe, is not a field based on objectivity or meritocracy. We have to be actively pursuing equality as well as knowledge!
More in the series of Joe-da’s Knights of the Anaerobic Chamber. Staring off with our fearless lab leader himself.
