I want to offload some Sailor Moon Merch...

No idea if there will be any interest, but I have a few various doubles and extras I’d like to get rid of from my Sailor Moon stash. Primarily small stuff like gacha, candy toys etc. Since I’m in Australia, I’d really only want to be posting domestically, or to NZ or Asia...Anywhere else the postage is going to be way too expensive. Pretty much I’m just wanting to make back what I paid for these - I need the space!! I have a few Uranus and Neptune and Outer Senshi themed things, most of it is Moon and Chibi Moon (those tend to be the extras usually).

Thank you! I love hearing from others who share my doujinshi proclivities. I have been building up this collection for a long time though (about 8 years now I think). Also for finding older stuff I recommend relentlessly stalking Mandarake and Suruga-ya, best places these days.

Seriously that Utena wine glass is sooo pretty! Luckily I saw a post someone shared on Facebook (I don't even have a proper Facebook, only an account I use for keeping up with collectable stuff, as sad as that is) and was immediately like, Must Have!!

It's a Premium Bandai item, and I have been checking their site regularly for new Utena stuff, b/c they have been releasing a few items here and there, but this never came up in my searches :/ I guess maybe cos it's an adult item technically?

I'm so excited about the Uranus and Neptune proplicas! Can't wait for those.

Despite the fact that I’m kind of poor right now, I had to go ahead and order these beautiful preciouses. I didn’t even know about the Utena liqueur and wine glass - thank goodness I found out late Thursday so I still had enough days left to get a preorder in. And luckily found a buying service who got it for me quickly and didn’t care I was ordering alcohol (it is okay to import alcohol into Australia anyway, so I shouldn’t have any issues getting it sent). I’ve also been taking Japanese classes, which has been really fun! I did an accelerated Level 1 course over the Summer break which I’ll be finishing in a couple of weeks, and I’ve already signed up for an accelerated Level 2. And with my very basic knowledge, I’ve started trying to read Studio Canopus’s Outer Children (with the help of lots of online translators). Since I’m still only a beginner it’s very slow going, and very rough (there’s definitely things I don’t quite ‘get’), BUT at least I can do enough to get a very general idea of what’s going on, which is hugely exciting. My beautiful purchases that I can’t afford and still bought anyway:

I Got Some Fan Art!

The Kissing Hand sent me these awesome fan arts through the mail. The first one is inspired by the scene from Ch. 8 in All the King’s Horses where Michiru’s Aqua Mirror shows her the Space Sword, and the second is some cute sketches of Haruka and Michiru. These are really fantastic and I’m so happy to have them!

Let Me Just Talk about Sailor Moon Releases for a Moment...

So this is another entry in the never ending series of I’m a huge collector nerd, BUT Madman has made some interesting changes and announcements with their Sailor Moon releases. The article can be read here: https://www.madman.com.au/news/sailor-moon-comes-to-blu-ray-for-the-first-time-in-australia-new-zealand/ (Yes, this news came out a while ago but I’m only catching up with it now, due to still being kinda behind on a lot of stuff). Anyway, the upshot is, that Madman is now going to be doing their own Blu-Ray release of all 5 seasons of Sailor Moon, using the materials from Toei’s recent Japanese Blu-Ray release, not the Viz release. This is still not a true HD remaster, due to the original films no longer being available, but by all accounts, it is better looking than the Viz Blu-Rays. Madman will be continuing with their DVD releases as well, in a style consistent with the earlier releases, but they’ve said they’re planning to use Toei’s new remaster for Season 4 and 5, rather than the European Masters they used for the earlier seasons. (Fans seem to be divided as to whether Toei’s remaster or the original European Masters are better.) Once they’ve re-released the first three seasons on Blu-Ray, Madman has said they’re planning to release 2 part DVD sets and Blu-Ray sets alongside one another for the last two seasons.

I Went on Another (Actually Several) Sailor Moon Doujinshi Benders

This year has been really busy for me with work, which has the disadvantage of leaving me with not as much time as I’m used to having, BUT it also means I’ve had a lot of disposable income, and what else would I like to do but buy loads and loads of doujinshi? I also had corrective jaw surgery on my lower jaw about six weeks ago that I’d needed for a long time, and the fact that I had all this time afterwards where I was pretty much just sitting around at home feeling tired and not up to much meant I had way too much opportunity to go online and shop for fanbooks - Also I finally got up the courage to create my own Surugaya account and use a Japanese forwarding address, so that has made it a lot easier and cheaper to buy from them whenever I want. These are just a few of the goodies I’ve gotten my hands on recently from various sources.

JB Hi Fi was/is having a sale of 50% off all their Hanabee anime titles, so I decided to get in on that and buy a bunch of different series, some of which I’ve never heard of. Sakura Trick I’ve watched before, and it’s terrible, so, so terrible, but I decided to get it for my Yuri library anyway. RWBY is something I’d like to check out, From the New World I’ve seen bits of before and I think it will probably be My Kind of Thing, though I know it’s very depressing (and it has a lesbian relationship where one of the girls ends up getting with a guy because That’s Just What You Do (I think, anyway, from what I remember watching ages ago), and that’s a pet peeve, but we’ll see how I go). The others I’ve never heard of, but who knows? I have high hopes for Tsuri Tama, which is apparently about an angry boy learning to fish and make friends. I’m kind of betting it will become my favourite of the bunch.

New Utena Chapter in Flowers Magazine

Tagging @genderqueerharuka who asked me to say something about my copy once it arrived! So as some of you may know, there was a new chapter of the Utena manga that appeared recently in Flowers, a monthly manga magazine released in Japan. As one might predict, the magazine was really popular and sold out quickly (at least it did on Amazon Japan and CD Japan, probably the two sites most accessible to Westerners); I managed to snag a copy off of CD Japan and thought I might share a few photos and a rough run-down of the what the story appears to be about (keeping in mind I can’t actually read Japanese, so I’m going purely by the visuals). I stumbled across that one by chance, but it was an immediate purchase as I actually had a few random scans from that book I found years ago and really liked the look of the content. I don't recognise all the artists, but from what I can tell, there are quite a few well known circles represented - Hello World, Jesus Drug, Morinaga Milk ... It is a High Quality Book.

Lol, I was so proud of myself for tracking down that Harumichi Moon World Correspondence doujinshi ... Been on the lookout for it for a while, but anthologies are hard to find without being able to search for the Japanese titles. Managed to find it on an old database where the Japanese symbols were included as graphics rather than text, so then just played around in google translate until I matched the symbols, and then copy & paste and found it pretty quick.

Had a few things come in the mail today that I couldn’t stop myself from buying. More Disney Q Poskets!

Big size Rapunzel was super cheap (like, 900 yen); found her on Amazon Japan for that price b/c she supposedly had ‘box damage’ ... Box arrives and it’s perfect. Like, if it had actual damage I wouldn’t have cared anyway, esp. not at that price, but it’s always funny when Japanese stores do that.

Poor Outer Senshi have temporarily been somewhat misplaced. The little petit Q Poskets are adorable.

And I got two more doujinshi anthologies b/c I’m kind of obsessed with them. The Utena one (Bara no Kakumei / The Revolution of the Rose) has a lot of really lovely stories, including a Juri/Shiori one that I really wasn’t expecting. The Haruka/Michiru one is called Moon World Correspondence ... I wanted it cos I knew it had a Mecca story in there, though as it turns out, it’s a story that has been published elsewhere as well anyway. But there’s a lot of really nice Harumichi works in there, including a long-ish dramatic/angsty story by Kiseki Museum centreing around the hunt for pure heart crystals and the talismans, which was a delight to find.

I do think they made an odd choice for Belle's expression - maybe they were going for pensive and went a bit overboard? But she's a very lovely figure. I wouldn't really worry if other people don't like her as much - as long as you're happy with her and get enjoyment out of having her I'd say that's by far the most important thing. Yes, I got the special color shiny Ariel. But I'm getting the regular color Rapunzel since I like her slightly darker coloring. Haha, I agree Rapunzel isn't my favourite Disney character (or movie), but I love the figures they've made of her, and purple is my favourite colour so I had to get her! I'd love if they made Merida and/or Moana. Or Meg from Hercules! Hercules himself was pretty annoying, but Meg was awesome.

I always thought the Sailor Moon Q Poskets looked kinda weird and didn't get any. But these Disney ones are really cute! And Banpresto is even releasing a couple of figures in the Q Posket line from Yuri on Ice (not out yet but soonish) that look promising. Lol, the petit ones are smol, but at least it will be easier to find a space for them!
