I DON'T NEED A MACHINE GUN TO DEFEND MYSELF.
There is no need for a weapon MADE for WAR to be held by a civilian.
I own a 9mm for defense, it holds exactly 9 bullets. Anything over that is OVERKILL.
I dont need an extended magazine.
I dont need an AR-15.
I dont need it. No one I know needs it.
I would rather the sale of these things be controlled than a child die because anyone without a felony can legally buy a gun BUILT for COMBAT and carry it into a school.

Can you, with absolute certainty, guarantee that a person will only need 9 rounds of 9mm to stop an assailant?
Would you be willing to bet your entire life on the fact that there is no assailant situation where 9 rounds is not enough?

We get it you literally do not care about anyone else than you and your close friends and family.
But when that day comes when someone with an assault riffle kills one of your loved ones at random and all the guns in the world that you have, didn’t do jack shit, I hope you just shrug your shoulders and thank god your 2nd amendment was protected and all your faux- advocacy allowed them to do that.
But you won’t, it will take a horrific event many have already experienced to see you’re on the shitty side of things
I could lose a loved one in an actual mass shooting and it wouldn’t change my mind about gun rights or being anti-gun control.

There’s a video I saw on reddit. Four armed men invade someone’s home in the dead of night, and the resident fights them off. Imagine what would’ve happened if they didn’t all run after the first one got shot, and you missed one or two shots. Or they’re on drugs. Or even just plain adrenaline. Or some combination of the three.
Now you have four armed dudes who are pissed off and want to kill you even more, and you’re out of ammo.
“If you need more ammo, you’re a bad shot” is not and has never been a good argument in this context.
Oh, and almost nobody has “machine guns”, period. There’s a big gap between “handgun with more than 9 rounds”, and “machine gun”. Machine guns are almost never used in any form of crime.

You have absolutely no evidence for this. This is just a personal attack. And one, hypocritically, being used to defend someone who wants guns heavily restricted based on their personal opinion with no evidence. Seems pretty selfish to me.

OP wanted to start by restricting handguns. Not “assault rifles”. Handguns. You’re trying to move the goalposts and steelman.

And what if someone neutralizes the shooter before they can do anything? What about the fact that mass shooters deliberately target areas where guns are banned, so people can’t protect themselves effectively? Are you going to blame that on gun control?
How is it the gun owner’s fault they couldn’t protect themselves and others if they were following the rules?

One of the students present at the Columbine shooting is now a pro-gun politician, IIRC. After Orlando, many LGBT people armed up so they could protect themselves. You are wrong. As usual.
I want OP to take a 9mm pistol with 9 shots and go fight a bear. Or a few wild boars. Or a pack of coyotes or wolves. Or a gang of 4 guys busting into their house in the middle of the night. Or just one really jacked up druggie. Or a corrupt government come to take their shit. See how that works out.
If they can survive and kill their assailant(s) with just the 9 bullets, then they’re right. No one needs more than that. But until then, I’ll keep my rifle, shotgun, and .45 thanks.
