“I always convince myself of my confidence. It’s always, oh, I’m gonna win this one,” she says, even if it was outside her comfort zone. If she believed that Aquaria could do it at that moment, then Aquaria could. - Michael Cuby for them. (x)

So y’all know I don’t really like Lee Daniels but he went in on some of Hollywood’s biggest producers for not hiring minority writers.

THIS IS MUST WATCH… LIKE DAMN SON

My jaw is still on the floor.

Dammmmmmmmm doing a standing ovation for Daniels, now that is courage. TALKING ALL OVER THEM TOO.

I love that there was no sugar coating at all like it was just straight up “you guys don’t want us and now you just told me that you don’t”

“I hate white people writing for black people!” WAS SO FREAKING POWERFUL TO HEAR FROM HIM

Who is that last guy who tried to flip it on Lee? Talking about “how many women/Asian writers do you have?”. What show does that guy write for so I can make sure I don’t watch that shit.

^^^^ I need the answer to this question!!

Kudos to Lee though! He went off and he was completely unapologetic about it! I’m blown away.

toughpearls amuzed1 He’s Hugh Willimon, from House of Cards.  So, yeah… the way black male characters and the lack of actual black female characters on the show is proof there’s no black folks in the writer’s room.

Huh, and I was thinking about checking that show out, people kept telling me how good it is. Oh well, I won’t be wasting my time on that, then, because that guy was a straight up asshole.

For me, personally, being Latina means family. It means food. It means music. It means loyalty. That’s what I identify with being a Latina: Family comes first, you stay loyal to your family. My family is everything to me. Also I think of foods and smells and music and dancing and celebration – and those are all the things I was raised with that make me feel Latina.
I think that there’s a quiet strength you’re brought up around when you’re Latin, especially growing up in a Cuban family made of refugees. There definitely was an extreme work ethic – anything less than working really, really hard is unacceptable – and just a general toughness and strength that I learned from the women in my family and my father. - Latinos Break the Mold
