The story of Abraham and Isaac comes from Genesis, the first book in the Bible, but souls and bodies rising from their graves to meet their maker? That comes from The Book of Revelation, the last book in the Bible. 

Dabb’s Ouroboros narrative is taking a final lap.

Perhaps pointing the way towards, eventually:

“A new Heaven, and a new Earth, for the first Heaven and the first Earth had passed away.” (Revelations 21). 

The opening credits of 14x20 take care to show us both Michael:

Who were harbingers of the apocalypse Mark I. 

Will we see them again? I think so, because things are stirring in The Empty. 

At the last, we see Jack, waking up in The Empty, welcomed by an unknown figure (The Shadow?) who seems to make the sign of benediction over him:

Billie also appears, with the words, “We should talk,”

her opposition to God, already set up earlier in the episode, by Chuck’s remark:

CHUCK: “Ugh Billie, I liked the Old Death better, he was all about fried pickles and tickle porn. This new Death, always sticking her scythe where it doesn’t belong.” 

And “God Was Never On Your Side” by Motorhead, plays us out. 

I love the framing of Chuck (long-time self-send-up and stand in for the writers’ room) as the “final villain”, apparently undoing all the good work the Winchesters have done along the way, by releasing all the souls from Hell, and taking us back to the start, Ouroboros style. 

We see a Woman in White on the road (as in 1x01 PIlot)

And we see a ghost girl in a mirror (as in 1x05 Bloody Mary):

But, Chuck remains enigmatic. Is this, in fact, his last test?

As I said in my earlier meta on Mary, Chuck seems to have a brief smile of relief on his face, when Dean chooses free will and refuses to shoot Jack:

Dean (raised as his own father’s “good little soldier”) was the last of Team Free Will to break free of a belief in the symbolic Father (here, God) and it seems Chuck set the test specifically for Dean, pushing Dean’s button hard at the last by offering to bring Mary back if Dean would obey and kill Jack.

Chuck has always, secretly, preferred disobedience (his particular fondness for Castiel, a testament). Free will is, after all, his greatest creation.

So his apocalyptic temper tantrum, may not, I think, be his last word. 

I loved this shot. The gravestone reads “Ezekial Gallows”:

The Book of Ezekial, like The Book of Revelation, ushers in a “new Jerusalem”.

Owls are masters of disguise, blending seamlessly into their surroundings. 

These trees appear to be judging me.

I CANNOT FIND THE OWL IN THE FIFTH FROM THE BOTTOM.  HELP.

It took me forever, but he’s in the focused section, standing at the top.  His face is in front of the snow.  He is smol.

These moth memes/posts are killing me and I never want them to stop.

I love this video because it’s one of the few ones I’ve seen where an animal is being messed with using a holiday prop and is totally okay with it. This is a super happy, relaxed cat who really does enjoy the skriches and does not appear to be bothered at all by the fact they’re coming from spoopy decorations and not living human hands. 

Bonus points because the person doing it is being really gentle and calm.
