Not me playing plumber on a fucking Sunday because I had the brilliant idea to fill a bucket to put some clothes to soak, using the bathtub's faucet that was clearly in a "look at me and don't touch me" state, and it fucking BROKE while open and wouldn't close... 😫😫😫

Had to close the main water supply, so I'm currently with no water (hey, at least I have a big supply of hand sanitizer from the pandemic!) and tomorrow gotta buy the spare parts--that was BROKEN and half was stuck inside the pipes and had to play lockpick with 2 screwdrivers to take it out) and replace the damn thing (thank you Youtube for the easy DIY repairs, I ain't paying a plumber this time).

Yesterday, I went to buy the part I need. Turns out the spare part is hard to find because OLD. The one that I got doesn’t fit. So, I needed to go back to change it, but yesterday it was deluging so I couldn't return.

Good news, the kitchen pipes are not affected by the “cut” of supply in the first floor, so at least I still had cold water in the kitchen and I could wash dishes and my hands.

TODAY.

I returned to the hardware store, the guy was kind enough to erode it around each side. Good news, the part now fits (width wise). The bad news is that is too long so the nut cannot be screwed.

Well. I went to yet another hardware store specialized in sanitaries (idk if you call it that, but w/e). They USED to have the part I need (the issue is that there’s so many models, but alas, mine is OLD AF). The guy was kind enough to saw that extra part. Now, he warned me that given that, there wouldn’t be enough room to open the faucet, but it would open TINILY, but to have it like that until he can contact a manufactorer to make tye one I need (yeah… gonna request 4 so I change all 4 handles just in fucking case). I guess I put to much force trying to screw the nut that now it doesn’t open at all… BUT…

IT FUCKING WORKED, NO LEAKING, NADA. SO NOW TO WAIT FOR THE WATER HEATER TO HEAT THE WATER AND I CAN BATHE AGAIN. Of course, cannot open that faucet BUT it’s ok, the knock is separated from the shower so it won’t affect that.

IM SO FUCKING HAPPY. IT WAS A STRUGGLE BUT I DID IT 😭😭😭🎊🎊

And, oh, yeah, while I was waiting for 2 pm (when that 2nd store opened again), I tinkered with the knobs from the smaller bathroom which didn’t close completely and there was always a small gushing. Well, I WD40’d both knobs and now they shut better! Gotta check in a couple of hours to see if it remains like that
