If you haven't caught wind by now I have a satellite studio in the shape of a little cocktail bar called @thehighdivedetroit in Hamtramck in the middle of Detroit Financially physically spiritually the bar posed a very direct and mostly unforseen challenges from 1 walk through to creating and designing the complete build out from my studio in LA From handmade victorian inspired wallpaper to salvaged illuminated church windows framed out with some of my early imagery as a complete window With my knowledge of restoration and antiques most of the furniture and salvage elements are from 1870's Victorian Eastlake to Early Art Deco This project is and will be a continued evolving installation which I believe best represents my life experience being an artist and a complete creative When you are alone on your hands and knees swinging a hammer 14+ hours a day for nearly 4 months straight asking yourself at 4am why the fuck did I abandon a chill life painting riding waves going to late night happy hours eating some of the best food and having all the comforts to surrendering to isolation and too numerous of responsibilities Its the same feeling I had when I was surrounded by police after trying to catch a freeway spot at 38 years old If there is no struggle there is no art Humbled and Thank You to some of the most important people in my life my collectors and followers for being patient with being absent from the scene Most importantly to my village @ghostbeard @jessecory @rouladavid @woodwardthrowbacks @tmrwlndstudio @a.l.wrk @1xrun @muralsinthemarket friends family employees you know I see you and appreciate every one of you!
