WATER IS THE ELEMENT OF CHANGE
Waterbending is based on a style of T'ai chi ch'uan, specifically the Yang style. It is a Chinese martial art that features slow movements and elegant forms that evoke the feel of flowing water. Like tai chi, a waterbender’s main advantage is the ease with which they can control their opponent, not simply harming them.
Both arts were influenced by ancient healing practices; people would channel their “energy paths” within themselves to areas of the body where healing was necessary. They also share a specific focus: body alignment, breath, and visualization. Finally, a waterbender can typically find that softness and breathing are more effective for their ability than hard aggression, just as a practitioner of tai chi does.

Judge: How do you plead?
Pippin: *looks at Gandalf*
Gandalf: *mouths ‘not guilty’*
Pippin: Hot milky
Gandalf: Just lock him up

I am a man of fortune, and I must seek my fortune.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (2016) dir. Bruce Straley, Neil Druckmann
“I haven’t seen my niece smile for a long time. She was a girl when they brought her father back dead. Cut down by Orcs. She watched her mother succumb to grief. Then she was left alone, to tend her king in growing fear. Doomed to wait upon an old man who should have loved her as a father.”
Lord of the Rings was published in the fifties, and largely written in the forties. Tolkien’s opinions on society and morality and technology are at some points genuinely more conservative than what I’m comfortable with. And yet, the more I think about it, the more sure I am that Tolkien actually deconstructs most of the clichéd fantasy tropes he supposedly originates. Some examples.
TLDR: Stop praising recent fantasy for deconstructing Tolkien if they’re “deconstructing” something Tolkien has never actually constructed.
One day I hope I am the girl that walks into a room and all eyes are on her.
The trick is to get a really big hat and then scream
“He looks to me to make things right and I would do it. I would see the glory of Gondor restored”
Our Favorites: [Day 23/24] Anastasia’s Favorite scene overall (The Lord of the rings) ↳ I made a promise, Mr Frodo. A promise. “Don’t you leave him, Samwise Gamgee.“And I don’t mean to.
in case you haven’t heard it today, or don’t fully realise it yet: i promise you that most people in this world are kind, loving and understanding. the people around you want you to succeed, they do not want you to fail. your friends don’t hate you, they love you, and they want to see you grow and prosper.
the world is not as bad as it seems. don’t forget that.
Sounds fake but ok
good news: it’s not fake. everything i said is true. being dismissive towards good things is a damaging mindset to have. you’ll feel a lot better if you have some trust and if you’re willing to consider optimistic viewpoints.
Is this what non depressed people feel like ? Damn. You’re so lucky
i’m extremely mentally ill and extremely depressed at that. deflecting good advice that encourages you to think positively about life by claiming that the person who said it is not depressed (when i very much am) is also a very damaging mindset to have.
OP is the opposite of the “Then Perish” meme. All of OP’s replies read as “Then Prosper”.
I often sent away her maid so I could brush her hair myself. She had auburn hair, lighter than mine, and so thick and soft … the red in it would catch the light of the torches and shine like copper. (happy birthday @sansapond ♡)
