“You’re welcome. After all, it was a mess I made, so it’s only fair that I clean it up.”

He’d decided to get fully undressed before his clothes got too wet since he was going to be in the bath anyways. He was taking care of the rest of the unruly bubbles once River caught up to him. He had a small mountain of bubbles in his hair, which he’d apparently picked up while dealing with the wave of bubbles.

He’d turned off the water before the tub got too full, so there was that. And he decided he was going to not make River’s night worse, even if that meant agreeing with her on things he’d normally wouldn’t and be as bubbly as the bathroom had been. After all, his bubbly personality was one of the things she loved about him, right?

“River! I hope this looks better,” he said, both overly cheerful and secretly hoping he hadn’t screwed up more.

“Yes, ma’am!” he exclaimed before immediately doing just that - cleaning up the bubbles. 

On the bright side, the tub hadn’t overfilled yet. But the room was almost full of bubbles. Fortunately, it was only moderately annoying to take care of them and it was almost fun. Almost. 

It would be more fun if he wasn’t already in trouble with River. He couldn’t help but to admit it to himself that it was his fault the night had turned out the way it did. And his way of apologizing wound up making a mess.

He spun around, closing the door behind him. He hoped that none of the bubbles would come out from under her door. He scratched the side of his head nervously.

“You know that I occasionally make a mistake I wind up regretting a few minutes later?”

He had the feeling that he might have just said his last words which would be on his headstone.

melodyxriver​:

“Consider it done!” he exclaimed excitedly before running off.

He figured that he could have the bath going while he grabbed the chocolate covered strawberries once the door was unlocked.

He rushed to the bathroom to get the bath started and grabbed the bubble bath soap. He didn’t read the packaging, assuming that more of it meant more bubbles which clearly translated to more fun. 

He then ran the water and then ran down to the kitchen for the chocolate covered strawberries and figured that since River was very partial to her wine, he may as well grab her another bottle just in case before running back to the bathroom where the bath was running.

“Oh no.”

“I was still trying to make the night pleasant for you even with my hurt feelings. I’m sorry that I clearly failed in doing so. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?”

melodyxriver​:

“It was a quiet night and we watched a movie together,” he said quietly, “It’s just that your words hurt my feelings a bit.”

melodyxriver​:

He knew that he was in trouble when she didn’t say a thing once the movie was over and fled with her wine, leaving him alone on the couch. Guilt started nagging at him, telling him he’d done screwed up and decided to talk to River. He didn’t press his luck when he noticed that the door was locked.

“River? I can tell that I’ve done something wrong. Whatever it is, I’m sorry.”

He’d been quiet the whole time through the movie, not even laughing. Just sat there, his arms crossed. He was definitely not pouting.

He had to catch himself from saying something he knew he’d most likely regret almost immediately, only shooting River an insulted glance before crossing his arms in front of him and watching the screen as well.

melodyxriver​:

“It would hardly be an argument since I’m certain that we both know who’s the bigger hypocrite,. But it’s not the right time for that discussion.”

melodyxriver​:

“Then what is and is it something you want to talk about or is it one of those times that I should be very careful for the rest of the night?”

melodyxriver​:

“Are you upset at me?” he asked as he accepted the bag of Jelly Babies.

“Okay, I’ll drop it. We were supposed to have a quiet night in anyways. So let’s have the quiet night in.”

“I’m his ganger. His flesh duplicate. I’m not the same as he is. I’m not as certain as you are that we’re even the same coin. He’s by definition better than I am because I’m a copy, a duplicate. And not a perfect one, mind you.”
