Urata = Takahashi Wataru

hello! so last 5/1, Urata posted tweets saying that he will be giving some serious talk (in which everyone was so anxious ww)

and then last 5/2, he had a timeshiftable housou with the support of Sakata

after talking it out with the people in his company, he was finally given permission to reveal his real name and work

His name is Takahashi Wataru(高橋 渉) and he works at Kenyu Office(He’s been working there for quite a long time already!). Work profile found here. His voice sample is also found on that site so if you don’t believe all this, just listen to it www

He’s voiced several characters however most of them are just minor characters (a list of them are written on his work profile although not all of them are there) He also voiced Kaito and Deru from Thousand Memories 千メモ/サウザンドメモリーズ [RPG] (please do play it bec it’s fun ww) also if you watched episode 16 of Nijiiro Days, he voiced one of the characters

(the one on the left ww) he also sang one of the songs for the game CROSSxBEATS(similar to Cytus) called Perfectionism. I bet he has a lot more other minor roles that aren’t on the official site so if you find it then please share the info too!

Also according to the housou, he was called “Wakkun” in middle school (ahhh how cute ww)

Report from Uratanuki

For this occasion, it’s a bit sudden but I will be writing the report I mentioned before here in this blog.

Up until now I, Uratanuki, have always had the dream: “I want to be a voice actor,” and from attending a vocational school to a training school, and from a training school to belonging to an office, I have worked hard for many years. Now I’m a voice actor by the name of Takahashi Wataru, who’s enrolled in ‘Kenyu Office’. For these past years as voice actor Takahashi Wataru, I’ve received several jobs, and while as Uratanuki, I’ve been doing activities on Nico Nico Douga.

The reason I have made this announcement this time is because as a voice actor, I’ve built (enough) courage to move one step forward, and because I realised some listeners here and there already knew that Uratanuki is Takahashi Wataru. So to avoid any misunderstanding and confusion, I discussed it with the office and after receiving consultation I came to the decision to properly tell everyone.

* What will happen to activities as Uratanuki

I think everyone reading this report is particularly most concerned about this part; from now on, the appearance of Uratanuki (CV Takahashi Wataru) that “inside Uratanuki there is Takahashi Wataru” will change. I think it’s difficult to convey with words and letters, but I’ll be grateful if even a little is conveyed to everyone.

I will be represented as Takahashi Wataru/Uratanuki. As for the activities, it will be the same as before: uploading videos, live broadcasting, live activities, CD activities, collaboration with friends and participating in USSS, I’ll be doing all this just as usual! Just like before, I’ll happy with being called “Urata” and “Uratan” as well as interacting as Uratanuki, and of course I’ll be also happy to be called “Takahashi” and “Wataru”. But I do not want to cause a misunderstanding here: up until now I have not created a character named “Uratanuki“; I’ve remained as myself and connected with everyone, and from now on, I want to continue remaining as myself and connecting with everyone.

Lastly, letting everyone know my activities as a voice actor, I hope everyone will accept it as my selfish request, but for understanding me up until now, I’ll be grateful if everyone can remain the same and continue warmly supporting me.

From now on, I think I’ll be announcing little bits of my work as Takahashi Wataru.

So I’m back in the Utaite game after a long time and one thing I’m welcoming is the use of different language subtitles under the videos! BUT another thing I’m seeing is an extreme anti-Korean sentiment in a lot of the new ones, which weren’t there before…

Like almost every one I’ve seen has DON’T SPEAK KOREAN or THIS IS THE ENGLISH SITE USE THE KOREAN ONE TO SPEAK KOREAN which doesn’t even make sense because there is only an ENGLISH SITE and a JAPANESE SITE??????? what kind of fucking entitlement…

Ok so once I got over that, which I’m pretty used to (japanese fetishizers jumping on the anti-Korean imperialist train isn’t uncommon) I realized a I spotted a LOT MORE anti-Korean shit on Mafumafu’s videos than literally ANyONE ELSE?

Happily, Soraru only had one or two, I think, and I remember seeing him tweet one of his Korean fans saying it was cool to have international fans, so I think it’s not like… a personal issue. But the prevalence of it on Mafumafu’s videos is starting to scare me - did he announce imperialist leanings while I was away? should I stop listening to him? tbf a lot of the people I listen to have sung Senbonzakura at least once, so I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt there (if you’re raised that way, there’s little one can do except accept it and move on - not like I’m gonna meet these people or anything)

idk. Mafumafu fans? Utaite fans? help me?

Hello there! I happened to pass by your post as I was scrolling down the Mafumafu tag, so I thought I’d answer it with the limited knowledge I have.

At least on twitter and on his namahousous in the past year, Mafumafu has not expressed any anti-Korean or xenophobic sentiment or even addressed political issues. There are still many Korean artists who draw fanart of Mafumafu and After the Rain regularly, which is a sign that they did not hear any of those negative opinions either. There isn’t much mention of Korea (or other nations) by Mafumafu in general, but given that Soraru and Mafumafu have gone out of their way to try to make Prerhythm Arch accessible internationally, I think they are aware and consider their non-Japanese fans in a positive light.

Also, while this is a rather old tweet, he has once responded to a Korean fan:

Fan: “Hello Mafumafu, I fell in love listening to your songs in Korea and followed you!”

Mafumafu: “Thank you very much! I’m so happy that there are people around the world listening to my songs…!!!”

I can’t say I know any of his personal opinions, but Mafumafu definitely is careful about spreading hate or creating controversy on twitter so I think the anti-Korean comments must have been instigated in a different way. I don’t think I saw comments like that on the Japanese version of Niconico so it might’ve been Western users acting like an entitled butthole about an influx of Korean comments on their videos…? If Mafumafu or any other utaite ever expresses imperialist or anti-Korean/Chinese ideas, I honestly would not continue supporting them as I do now (^^)

Bringing this back b/c apparently the anti-Korean comments haven’t disappeared? Again, I didn’t see any of this in the Japanese version of Niconico so I think it’s more likely that the perpetrator is an international fan, or at least one who can understand English :/
