many people wondered how my silly eevee variants would look evolved, and I found myself drawing a few! (no time for all of them unfortunately)

Here it is, the team I almost brought to regionals! I’m doing some last minute editing so only about half of these guys are gonna come with me to San Jose, but I had fun painting them nonetheless!

Personally, not a fan of triples. But shit, I’d happily participate because it’s not fucking doubles.

then again I’m only bitter because people favor triple over rotation (which is my personal favorite). even gamefreak themselves clearly prefer triple and treat rotation like a shame. it’s like when you buy two similar shirts at the same time: you end up liking one more and the other just usually hangs around the closet rarely worn. Granted, they have had more rotation cups than triple cups - two to one - but both of them were so restricted (eeveelutions only, then legendaries only), like why bother? I want to actually have some fun with it, not “who can beat the sylveon/arceus” battles.

also while I’m bitching, why are they pimping out double battles now? like they were introduced in gen 3, and until now (and even now!) in game they’re just like a small handful of optional double battles. We need another orre game. Because in-game double battles are fun. - I might stream colo/XD sometime.

I don’t usually actually join the competitions, but the last one I joined I think was a rotation format, wasn’t it? (The circle of legends one). That said, I haven’t taken a good look at the list, but could it be that the allowed Pokemon are best suited to doubles?

I mean, on the whole I do agree with you. I’m pretty sick of doubles getting pushed so much. 

Actually, that was two cups ago. Since then, we had the Chu Cup (aka the electivire cup) and the Primal Battle (aka Kyogre cup). There was also a special kids-only japan-only cup. ALL THREE WERE DOUBLE BATTLES.

Plus, I wouldn’t really have been interested in the legend rotation one anyway. it’d be like… wow… who has the best arceus and darkrai combo… but then again I didn’t compete in the Primal Battle for similar reasons - I didn’t wanna make a ream exclusively to combat kyogre.

I don’t understand how most of them are spooky? like the only thing spooky about whismur are how many plague wonder trade? Basculin tho? Also why Pikachu? 

However, all pokemon are good for double battles if you use them right. I’d like to cite SJP’s Pachirisu.

lol I know it was two competitions ago, that’s why I specified that it was the last one I joined. But yeah, that’s…an interesting list. And while I don’t necessarily disagree with you about all Pokemon, some are competitively better than others and some are better suited than some formats than others. 

Using your own example? I would argue that Pachirisu would be much less viable in a singles format, with all of the attention necessarily on it. That was pretty much the point I was making. 

But anyway, as I said, I, too am tired of the focus being so much on double battles, at least officially. 

Just to stick up for the overwhelming use of the doubles format (which I love so slight bias), doubles is the official format and most people playing competitively are using doubles teams and it's a pain to try to make teams for other formats when you have a ton made for doubles.

I guess that argument could be used for people who battle using other formats, but I guess it all comes down to the fact that doubles is the official VGC format so that's what most of the online competitions are going to use.
