it never matters whether propaganda like this is true. by the time the truth is revealed - and whether or not it's true to begin with - the damage is already done in american/european media because they won't entertain the palestinian side for a second.
the israeli govt has done this millions of times before. they're actually doing it right now, saying a hamas soldier left the isis flag in a kibbutz on twitter, when hamas is not only ideologically opposite of isis, but fought isis and groups that shared their ideology which formed in gaza back in the day.
it's not about "true" or not - they have no reason to do it, especially now - it's about playing on westerners' (and many israelis') knowing fuck all about the "middle east". they only need a slight push in the right direction to bomb with impunity.

What Palestinian resistance will always show you is that when people in the west talk about supporting resistance and freedom fighters they mean in Star Wars shows and not in real life because in real life violence occurs and that’s a big no no. Don’t tell them about what the occupiers were doing though because apparently that’s okay.

i mean to be clear i think we can all agree it is bad when civilians die. however the israeli state's policies as a settler-colonial genocidal project means that for decades it has been constructing a situation where it is impossible for palestinians to fight back against daily brutal violence without israeli civilians being caught in the crossfire so i think if you are upset about those deaths you should take it up with the government that built cities and invited settlers onto recently stolen land and then committed indiscriminate massacres against the people it was stolen from for decades. but of course most of the people handwringing about israeli civilians are not actually concerned with human life--or if they are, not with a worldview that recognizes palestinians as human
