Blue is really not Fitzsimmons' color.

Think about it, F.Z.Z.T Jemma is wearing blue, falls through the bluest of blue skies and lands in the ocean. The ocean is blue.

Season 1 finale, bottom of the ocean, the ocean is still blue, the tiny amount of light that makes it into the pod makes everything tinted blue. Then Simmons struggles to keep them both above water in this vast sea of blue until Fury gets there.

And then Simmons gets stuck on a blue planet for six months, while Fitz goes crazy, and she fights to survive and then finally comes back but with some intense PTSD.

Keep blue away from my OTP.

When a nightmare startles Simmons awake, she shoots up in bed, poised with a homemade stake in her hands ready to strike. Once she realizes she’s safely back at S.H.I.E.L.D., Simmons curls up next to a sleeping Fitz, as though he’s the only thing tethering her to this world. And though Simmons has clearly been through a lot, seeing the comfort she still gets from Fitz is a nice reminder that some things never change - no matter how many months one spends fighting to survive on an alien planet. [x]

the team’s reactions when they find out Simmons is alright ｡◕ ‿ ◕｡

I feel the need to talk more about this wonderful scene. First of all, Jemma’s reaction to Fitz being there when she wakes up (the little “oh” that she makes) suggests to me that he wasn’t there when she fell asleep. He most likely came in after, sat next to her bed not wanting to leave her side or disturb her, and then ended up falling asleep himself. He just needed to be close to her, needed to make sure that she’s there, she’s safe, and most importantly, alive. If Fitz had been there as she was falling asleep, Jemma would’ve probably invited him into the bed so they could both sleep comfortably (they’ve probably fallen asleep together countless times in the past, and the bed looks plenty big enough for two people as well). 

Fitz is also still wearing the same clothes he was wearing when he rescued Jemma from the alien planet. This means that he’s stuck by her side as much as possible since she returned, and not really had time to go and get changed himself. At the moment, he doesn’t care for his own personal needs; he just wants to make sure that she feels safe and secure. And if that means sitting next to her bed on the cold, hard floor whilst she sleeps, then he’s going to do that.

What gets me about Fitz though, is that even though he’s sleeping in a rather uncomfortable position, he looks peaceful. All those months of worrying, all those months of thinking that she had been taken from him forever – the come down from that amount of stress must’ve been absolutely exhausting.

Finally, as soon as Jemma climbs out of bed, rests her head and hand on his thigh, she smiles and then drifts calmly off into sleep. The little smile she gives is one of comfort; he’s always been there for her. He’s her anchor, the person who makes her feel safe, and being a few metres away from him on the bed feels like just too much of a distance right now, so she chooses to sleep on the floor with him.

This is probably the first time they’ve both slept well since they were separated.
