okay so ages ago i starting making a barefoot contessa drinking game. feel free to add on

Drink every time she says:

- How easy is that?

- That something can be served at room temperature

- Not to blitz the soup too much because no one likes baby food

- That she is turning the volume up on something

- Good vanilla

- Decedent

- That she loves the texture of something

- How easy it is to make chicken stock

- Only add wine that you would drink

- She’s adding wholegrain mustard because she wants it to look like mustard

- Moist

- Good dijon mustard

- Jeffrey’s going to love this

- It couldn’t be easier/simpler

- But store bought will do

- This is going to be really good

- You can’t taste the coffee but it really brings out the flavour of the chocolate

- This is going to bake at x, for x minutes and when it comes out it’s going to be x, x and x 

Drink every time this happens:

- She tastes her own food and moans, slowly taking the spoon/fork out of her mouth, with her eyes shut

- She cooks chicken for Jeffrey

- She adds mayonnaise

- One of her friends seems uncomfortable

- Jeffrey is sent out to buy wine

- Jeffrey prepares a surprise for Ina despite the fact she does not like surprises

- They have a pot luck dinner

- She cooks for a party but is not invited

- Michael does the flowers/table setting for a party but is not invited

- She makes a lemon vinaigrette

- She sticks her tongue out in disgust

- She makes an innuendo

- She adds unnecessary alcohol

- She lists the ingredients in a bowl as she’s mixing it

- TR buys the meal he was supposed to cook

- She does 90% of the work for a party someone else is hosting

- A friend of Ina’s awkwardly narrates their flower arranging, table setting or cooking

- A friend of Ina’s conveniently turns up just as she finishes cooking

- Ina has her arm wrapped tight around the shoulders of a friend who is taller than her

I was severely disappointed by the lack of food network valentines so I took the liberty to make some of my own.

WHAT SHE SAYS: I’m fine.

WHAT SHE MEANS: In CA:CW, Wanda Maximoff was played by a white, 28 year old actress and the character had willingly worked for HYDRA, a bunch of nazis, but Steve Rogers called her a “just a kid” and that is just so typical of how the media presents white ADULTS as minors when they commit crimes even though they’re not. Did everyone forget how gleeful she was to work with Ultron, and how determined she was to unleash the Hulk? Like, she didn’t have to attack him too, Bruce was waiting in the carrier, but she went out of her way to mess with him, and because of that hundreds, probably THOUSANDS of people were killed! She was working with Nazis and was the cause of hundreds of deaths in an African country, but she was called a kid and woobifyed by everyone in the movie and most of the fans, and that is so disgusting but still so realistic to what happens in real life and it’s horrible.

but that’s what happened. 

and the thing is

if thirty dead, white, upper middle-class kindergartners in Connecticut aren’t going to motivate change on gun control

then they’re never going to change for queer people in Florida, and they’re not going to change for music fans in sin city, and they’re not going to change for college students in Washington and Oregon, and they’re not going to change and they’re not going to change. 

A white man can buy 19 automatic weapons and no one is going to raise an eyebrow. And then afterwards they’ll send thoughts and prayers.
