So I’ve been debating whether or not to make one of these campaigns for myself, but in the end, I decided to try it out because in the long run it might actually help. For those of you who unaware of my situation, I am a mentally ill nonbinary trans woman and a lot of my problems stem from agoraphobia and my panic disorder. I only leave the house when it’s absolutely necessary, i.e. doctor appointments or therapy. And another part of the reason why I don’t leave my home at all is because I don’t have a wardrobe or other things that would help make my transition a little bit easier and help me feel more confident in myself so that I can try to work on battling my agoraphobia.
I’m currently on Supplemental Security Income (otherwise known as S.S.I.), but I only receive $723 per month and the majority of that money goes to rent and bills. And then I only have around roughly $150 to pay for my medication, groceries, gas for my rides to appointments, and other necessities. (Note: I’m on food stamps and Section 8, but they both consider $723 too high of an income so I only get $17 in food stamps and my rent is still like $450 even with Section 8.) So that leaves little to no money for other things like clothes or other things for my transition, which then only adds to my stress and low self-esteem.
So that’s why I made a GoFundMe campaign to help fund my transition because otherwise I will never be able to afford things that would help me with the physical presentation part of my transition. And I don’t even know if my insurance will cover HRT, which I plan to start sometime soon since I found a doctor who does consent-based HRT.
So I would appreciate it so much if you would donate and/or reblog this post for me. All of the money donated will go strictly to things that will help my transition, i.e. buying a new wardrobe, make-up, a breast form and/or bra (that actually fits) with breast form inserts, and other things. I might also use some of the donations for a few appointments at the Transgender Institute in downtown Kansas City. And also possibly for HRT, if my insurance won’t cover it. Any help or reblogs would be greatly appreciated.
