The governor of WV ran as a Democrat because he knew he would be the only one on the ticket and then as soon as he got elected he switched parties because “it would be easier to work with the Republicans.” He was, of course, always a Republican and everyone knew it (c’mon, he owns coal mines), but it was still ridiculous. This sort of thing is why politics in WV are so fucked. There are very few honestly Democrat options.

From the blu-ray extras, before filming, the directors actually had someone from WOTC run a (different) adventure for the actors as their characters so they could be familiar with them.
One thing that was mentioned at the Q&A after the screening that I have to know more about is that the cast embarked on their own D&D campaign before making the movie. Was that your guys' idea? Daley: Yeah. We had very limited time with our cast as a group. Goldstein: Thanks to quarantine. Daley: Thanks to quarantine in the UK where everyone had to quarantine for 10 days, and it was very strict at that point because it was in the height of the pandemic. So we had limited time to rehearse, and we wanted to take one of those days we had with our cast to do a campaign, not just to familiarize them with the mechanics of it, but also because it felt like a really great exercise in expediting the chemistry between all of them. This is the nerd equivalent of people doing war movies and sending their cast to boot camp. Daley: Exactly. That's right.
The funniest bit in the movie is the extremely powerful paladin coming up with some reason why he can’t help the group with the rest of their quest and then walking away in a straight line. 100% a NPC the DM threw in to keep the group alive during their initial quest, but didn’t want the NPC to do all the work for the rest of the adventure. Perfect. No notes.

Sometimes I think about how my grandmother lived to be in her 90s and then I think about being in my 40s and living 50 more years of *this* and lemme tell ya, I am not jazzed about it.
