the most important thing to me ever is bi kids knowing that it’s ok to be 10% attracted to women and 90% attracted to men or 10% attracted to men and 90% attracted to women and still feeling ok to identify as bi, and still feeling like their identity is valid, and still feeling like they can lead fulfilling lives with both (or other) genders. like that’s just so fricking important.

I’m a bi adult and you know what? I needed this. Thank you.

it’s also important to remember that it can be a fluid % like sometimes it’ll be 50/50 some times 10/90 and then drift into a 45/65 or even 2/98 and it’s still okay. It’s just where you are at that time in your life.

Content Request

We’re looking for authors, either for individual articles of regular columns, to write on the following subjects;

Current Events - specifically ones that will effect the LGBT community or other marginalised groups. Or are really cool.

Science - articles need to be written so as to be intelligible to non scientists and have wider social implications

Bisexuality - history of the movement and profiles on famous bisexuals, issues facing the community, personal narratives or anything else to do with bisexuality and bisexuals.

Media Crit - movies, music, art, books, comic, etc. We want reviews and commentary.

Art and Events Correspondents - We want local correspondents from bi communities around the world on things going on near them.

Health and Beauty - We want more columnists, with priority being given to poc, to write articles on health and beauty using gender neutral language.

Tutorials - If you have a skill, from coding to crochet to cooking we want you to write us tutorials on it.

Art - We want creative content from poems to paintings from bi creators.

First Person Narratives - In particular from people who are members of other minority groups. We want to hear about your experiences as a bi or otherwise marginalized person and they do not have to be bi specific (i.e gendered harassment in the workplace).

Our only requirement is that you be bisexual or biromantic or both.

The Post-Dublin LGBTQ Pride BiSocial!

A week after Dublin LGBTQ Pride, you're probably *still* covered in rainbows and glitter, even though you don't even remember using any glitter??

So to help you get the most out of your fabulousness, we've organised a gorgeous gathering of beautiful bis, perfect pans, and exquisitely quiffed queers! We'll be in The Liquor Rooms on Saturday July 4th to become full of merriment and joy in your company. We're so excited, darnit!

If you're a newcomer, we'll be there early to welcome you. Get in touch with Bi Ireland on Facebook to let us know you're coming if you'd like a point of contact. :-)

Since this is a public event, you may not want to say you're attending on the FB page, but if you'd like you can send us a message or post in the private Bi+ Ireland Network group to let us know you're coming! (And if you're not in the worst-kept-secret group and you'd like to be, PM us on FB)

Accessibility Note: there's a step into the venue that we're told is small enough for getting up and down on crutches, but if you are using a wheelchair, please let us know in advance as the venue will have people there to help with the step if necessary. If there are other accessibility needs you have, get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Please check out our code of conduct for meet-ups here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/bi-ireland/bi-ireland-event-code-of-conduct/924538514236447

In case you dont understand, when LGBT people say they feel uncomfortable with people posting rainbows over their icons whilst not being supportive of LGBT people in the least this is exactly what they mean

All bisexuals are real bisexuals. All biromantics are real biromantics. All of them belong in the bi community. You are bi enough, you belong here and you are owed our support.

Couple-ish: A New LGBTQ+ Webseries

Welcome to “Couple-ish”, a new queer webseries written by @kbearluna and produced by Parcel Face Productions and Box Out Studios. We are a group of filmmakers, writers, and actors who are passionate about bringing new voices and new representation to LGBTQ+ audiences that don’t usually see it. “Couple-ish” is queer media with a fake couple, but real heart.

“Couple-ish” is about Dee, a bisexual, non-binary Canadian illustrator, who finds themself locked into a lease they can’t afford. With the help of younger sister Amy, Dee thinks they find the perfect new roommate in Rachel, a queer British bartender. Things go awry in this character-driven comedy when, eight months later, Rachel claims Dee as a common-law partner to stop herself from being deported. When Amy, who is developing a crush on her sibling’s roommate, begs Dee to go with the plan, the group sets up a YouTube channel to prove Rachel and Dee are totally in love—and totally not just faking it for the government.

The series will be shot in both vlog and standard formats, and will combine trans-media elements through a character-run Tumblr. With 22 planned episodes, “Couple-ish” will have over two full hours of scripted material for your viewing pleasure. Please take a look at our kickstarter, and reblog this if you want to see this made!

Bisexuality - Where straight people think you’re gay and gay people think you’re straight

Also where gay people think you’re gay, straight people think you’re straight, and everybody gets mean when you explain NOT MONOSEXUAL.

The Advocate magazine features: Letter to My Younger Bi Sisters -

Op-ed: An Open Letter to My Younger Bi Sisters: Some sound advice for bi women in a world that doesn’t necessarily understand them.

Dear Bi Sisters Who Are in Their 20s and 30s, In a few months I’ll be 40 years old. In the past 20 years, I have grown more knowledgeable about myself. I faced my fears and anxieties about being rejected by friends and relatives by being an out bisexual. I became more confident about needs: having people in my inner circle who have the skills to be fully engaging and emotionally expressive and who can celebrate my authentic self… In keeping with the customs of my Haitian elders, I will give you some unsolicited advice — however, the advice I will share is the same advice that I practice myself.
  • Practice radical self-acceptance
  • Be vulnerable
  • Develop your emotional support system
  • Be your own cheerleader
  • Save your emotional energy — stress causes physical pain
  • Don’t give up on romance

seriously though bisexuality being defined as attraction to men and women is a heterosexual’s definition of bisexuality actual bisexual groups and organizations have been defining it as attraction to two or more genders or same and other genders since the nineties and plenty of nb people actually id as bi and refusing to accept how we define ourselves is so absurdly biphobic and heterosexist and jfc it’s 2014 can other queer people fucking realize and acknowledge this

We need more bisexual girls in fiction. Happy out and proud. Sad and closeted and scared. Bi girls of color. Trans and genderqueer and two-spirit bi characters. Bi characters who don’t know they’re bi until someone tells them bisexuality is real. Bi girls pretending to be straight. Bi girls pretending to be lesbians. Immigrant bi girls who have got bigger issues to worry about than being bi. With more diversity in our bi girls in fiction, one bi girl character with internalized biphobia won’t stick out so terribly.

Bi characters who don’t know they’re bi until someone tells them bisexuality is real.

Bi characters who don’t know they’re bi until someone tells them bisexuality is real.

Bi characters who don’t know they’re bi until someone tells them bisexuality is real.

This is why we need more bisexual characters. Because if you’re not represented, if every bit of media you see either makes you into a joke or denies you existence, then you won’t know what you are.
