Palestinian Jews also did this before the state of Israel was made. The imposition of biblical narratives onto Palestine as we know it today partially originated from British colonialist historians who wanted to "bring back" the ancient Holy Land while completely ignoring the native inhabitants. Nadia Abu El-Hajj talks about this in the second chapter of "Facts on the Ground".

Worth mentioning that multiple Palestinians have recounted these stories before, as direct victims detailing their experiences. What's unique about these accounts from CNN Israeli whistle-blower is that they're from an Israeli, therefore people are more likely to take this seriously.
