When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music.  Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets). I still can’t believe I get to work with the unfathomably brilliant Rodrigo Prieto on cinematography and my team of dream collaborators: Ethan Tobman (production design), Chancler Haynes (editor), Anthony Dimino (1st AD), Jil Hardin (producer) and Dom Thomas (executive producer). Parliament aced the VFX as always. Joseph Cassell, Lorrie Turk and Jemma Muradian made these tortured looks come to life. The entire crew made this a dream to shoot. Thank you to everyone involved and everyone who has watched it!! https://taylor.lnk.to/FortnightMV

I hate that the stock response for "I'm lonely/I feel undervalued by my loved ones/I want a romantic partner" is "well do you value YOURSELF? You need to learn to enjoy being alone!" as if lonely people aren't very intimately familiar with being alone. Self esteem and love are important but they're not substitutes for companionship or friendship or romance and pretending that loneliness is a personal failure that can be fixed by self-improvement feels not only delusional but pretty cruel

i love the feeling of getting “clearer” as you get older, like with each year there’s less room for messing around or pretending or playing a game with something you know deep in your heart is not right for you. it’s like your brain just gets better and better at cutting you off as you consider something and tells you “no that is not for me” before you can jump in. and it’s not as if things get more serious, but the opposite. you have freedom in giving yourself more and more permission to purposefully live life and go after whatever you want and to love freely knowing that things are secure in your heart and mind.. at least when i am struggling i know that the “clearing” is really what’s happening

Syverson x Fem!Reader

vignette: When it comes to being a woman, the country and city might have more in common than Y/N realized.

words: 2,000+

warning: street harassment, women's fear

It felt like the deepest circle of hell.

One thing Y/N missed the most since moving to Texas was winter. In New York, summer was her least favorite season. She hated the humidity, hated the lack of air conditioning in the old building of New York. So Texas summers were something to behold.

Thankfully the majority of places in her area of Texas were fully equipped with artificial cool air. And despite how old Syverson’s house was, his parents updated it and had installed AC ducts throughout the historic home to keep it updated functionally.

Y/N was feeling bold and thought she could go for her usual run. But had immediately regretted it as soon as she started running.

And now she was looking down at Aika, concerned it was too hot for her to join her. The dog was panting and her German Shepherd fur was meant for the cold and snow. But after all, Syverson found her in Iraq, so she was born in the desert.

Y/N was now walking on the side of the rode, hands folded on top of her head.

There were trails nearby that Y/N could run. But her body just couldn’t seem to adjust to the uneven ground of forest and trails. She was used to treadmills or hard, flat concrete ground. Plus, Y/N was unaccustomed to the wildlife she could come across in nature here. And even though she wouldn’t admit it, she was convinced she would fall onto a rattlesnake or something else that could kill her.

So she ran on the shoulder of mostly empty roads around their house.

Every once in awhile, someone would drive by and give her a friendly wave.
