Late Christmas gifts for @alistairswaifu and @bronwinning. Their amazing twin Trevelyans as tarot cards. One born a mage, the other chose the life of a templar to try and find her.

Caitlin (Cate) Trevelyan - Queen of Wands

Upright: Socially prominent, this Queen represents a woman who is in a position of authority and shines in her endeavors. A “lioness”-warm, generous, and loving-she is honorable, creative, intelligent, friendly, and mature. Her advice is well worth taking, and she will be a loyal confidante or provide valuable assistance. A natural leader, she may be the head of a business, social, or philanthropic organization, or political figure. If this Queen does not represent an actual person, she indicates that now is a good time for you to move forward in a business or creative venture. If the Queen represents you, you have the qualities within yourself that you need to succeed.

Reversed:If the Queen of Wands is reversed, she can represent  a powerful woman who demands control over your affairs in return for her advice, support, and/or financial assistance. She wants to control social situations for her own advantage. If the Queen does not represent  an actual person, the reversed card can be a warning to be careful in any business deals with women. She also advises you to avoid giving offense to the socially powerful, and to be aware of deception, greed, and jealously.

Seamus (Septimus) Trevelyan - Knight of Wands

Upright: Knights are messengers and travelers, and the Knight of Wands brings good news concerning work or social activities. His glad tidings may relate to almost any anticipated happy event - a journey or vacation, a change of residence or job, an engagement or marriage. If this card represents a specific person, it refers to a young man who is a relative or friend with the same qualities as the King and Queen, who are his parents in the royal family. The person bearing the message can be trusted and is faithful.

Reversed: Even when reversed, the Wands aren’t particularly negative, but the reversed Knight can indicate a delay in the message or paperwork you have been expecting. A trip may be canceled because of bad weather or an engagement or wedding postponed, even broken off. The reversed Knight can represent separation form people, places, or situations.

A late birthday present for @alistairswaifu

Her gorgeous Rheydn Lavellan!!

---------------------------------------

Two of Swords:

the Waite deck shows a blindfolded woman holding two swords crossed over her breasts with a crescent  moon above and the ocean behind her. The card represents a situation in which it appears impossible to move forward. Because you can’t figure out with logic or intellect how to proceed, you must rely on blind faith that the universe will handle things.

Upright:

This card indicates stasis. You may be maintaining the situation by putting up a facade and ignoring the underlying tension that exists. This is an uncomfortable position to be in, but you aren’t ready to do anything about it yet. You need to speak up and communicate clearly. Eventually, however, change must take place. You have choices. Remove the blindfold and look honestly at the situation.

Reversed:

When the Two of Swords appears reversed, it exacerbates the above situation. you feel helpless to make the necessary changes. One party my be unwilling to admit to the truth of the situation, making discourse impossible. This may result in deceit, disloyalty, or duplicity.

(*Cough cough* her feelings towards Emrys before they are together *cough*)

Happy Nameday Nathaniel - 7167 Words

Summary: Quinn Cousland and Alistair have saved Ferelden, Cured the Taint, and endured every challenge the world has thrown at them. Retired, they want nothing more than to start on the family they’ve always wanted. Unfortunately, life has a way of making even peaceful times difficult.   Warning: Infertility plays a pretty heavy part of this story.

Written for the lovely @bronwinning for her birthday. Art by the wonderfully talented @bzzbzzmtherfcker

“Your body will never be able to carry a child, my lady.” The healer stared at her, a mix of pity and apprehension in her facial features.

Quinn’s heart broke and her face fell immediately.

After several agonizing years searching for a cure to the taint, and the aftermath of the Wardens’ terrible mistake at Adamant fortress, Quinn and Alistair thought they might finally live a peaceful life together. They had hoped to finally start the family they had always dreamed of, a dream they thought impossible due to the infertility caused by their Joining. Unfortunately, despite over a year of trying they found themselves unable to conceive. Concerned, they decided to visit a midwife in Highever. As the appointment date approached however, Quinn decided that she would go privately. In the back of her mind she seemed to mull over the possible concerns and hoped that a simple tonic or mixture might help. Never had she thought that it would be this serious, never could she have expected to be barren despite the Taint in her blood.

“What?”

“This old wound you received—” She lifted up the edge of Quinn’s shift and pointed at a long, deep and jagged scar that ran from the left side of her torso and down to her pelvis where an assassin’s blade was buried over a decade ago. The injury, at the time, was quite serious but healed well over time due to Wynne’s expertise. “I’m afraid it has damaged your body beyond repair. You will never be able to conceive or bear a child. I am terribly sorry.” The midwife bowed her head in sympathy, unable to look the young woman in the eye.

She was stunned, this situation hardly seemed real, this horrible moment had to be a trick of the Fade or a waking nightmare. Time stood still, one sentence repeating over and over in her mind: You will never be able to bear a child. You will never be able to bear a child. You will NEVER be able to bear a child. Her throat tightened as Quinn fought the flurry of emotion that threatened to overwhelm her.

“Th-thank you, serrah. I-I appreciate your help.” Quinn stood quickly, her brown eyes nearly bloodshot as her vision began to blur. The midwife looked ready to speak, to offer words of comfort or solace but chose not to, how could she? No words could buffer the pain in her patient’s heart. The warrior stormed out of the small clinic and barely registered the sound of the wooden door slamming behind her. She was numb, save for the sharp jab in her chest nearly as painful as the assassin’s blade had once been.

As she walked through the familiar streets of her hometown she bowed her head, anything to avoid the stares of the mothers and children that she passed by. She would never know that joy, that of a mother’s, and Alistair would never—

Alistair would never be the father he yearned to be; all because of her barren state.

Andraste preserve her, how could she possibly break this news to him?

*pssst* If you want a heart wrenching AlistairxWarden goodness, I highly recommend this fic.

J: “The Inquisitions fabric samples from Val Royeaux will arrive within the next day or so.”

O: “Mmmm”

J: “And Leliana’s reports on her people in place of the Nevaran Palace have been giving us some very useful reports as well.”

O: “Hmmm”

J: “Oh and we simply must thank the Empress Celene for this marvelous bathtub. It was most gracious of her to send it to us as a thank you for our support of her troops in the Exalted Plains.”

O: “Mmhmm”

J: “Are you even paying attention Oriha?”

O: “Always. However the wine, the company, and the comfort are requiring a bit more of my attention. How about you just run the world my lady ambassador? I’m sure you could charm all Thedas into agreement.”

J: “Oh if only it were that simple my lady.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank the Maker for giant ass Orlesian bathtubs. This is probably the first time Oriha has been in a bath tub that actually fit her size. Bonus points of it being big enough for both her AND Josie. Empress Celene knows what’s up.

Oriha: “It would seem the trait of being unabashedly exquisite is a strong one in the Montilyet lineage.”

(Meanwhile both are freaking out internally along the lines of “Oh Maker please approve”)

I adored running into Yvette in the game. I really want to know more about the Montilyet family. Josie mentions them a lot and I’ve seen so many headcanons about the Rutherford family but it’s killing me that there isn’t more about her family.
