going from the reddit star wars fandom to the tumblr star wars fandom is giving me insane whiplash. the upside is that people aren’t bitching about every single imperfect detail in the entire franchise, but the downside is that i’ve seen more fanart of obi wan and commander cody tenderly knowing each other than i have ever wanted to in my life in the last three hours and it has probably fundamentally altered the way i interact with the entire franchise

after the initial shock of being plunged into the icy cold lake of seeing my childhood action figures caressing each others sweaty chests in a gentle, hidden moment after a battle, i’ve been able to get my wits about me and realize that yeah, i’m kinda with it

I just wanna share my Star Wars Motto story from trivia night where we named our team No One In Star Wars Is Straight ™ (and won best team name) and the when the host read “No One In Star Wars Is Straight ™” out loud, a guy at the bar yells “no, what about Han Solo?!” And the host yelled back “my guy, of all the characters in Star Wars you coulda picked to argue were straight, you picked HAN SOLO??”

Anyway yeah, No One In Star Wars Is Straight ™. No one.

ok, i did more research, and they aren’t asexual but they CAN reproduce asexually which is what i was thinking of. additionally, they are born hermaphroditic and choose their own gender. wookiepedia also specifically mentions that they are horny as fuck. so really, jabba the hutt is probably one of the most canonically queer characters in star wars, due to the fact that he had Rotta by himself as far as we know.

Not only that, but oftentimes, these backpackers begging for money aren’t as impoverished as they make themselves out to be. Typically, they’re incredibly wealthy, but the simulacrum of ‘vagabonding’ is a bragging right for them in backpacker communities. 

They become obsessed with the idea of being the most remote, the most frugal - if you’ve ever heard of Thailand’s Full Moon Party, the island of  Ko Pha-ngan used to be a rural fishing village - until a backpacker decided togo “off the beaten path” and live there by the generosity of a local family. Because they do this for bragging rights, the tourist bragged about this island to the people at a hostle, and low-and-behold, every few weeks (because they now have half-moon raves as well) the island is completely TRASHED because of these raves. Not even mentioning the fact that they abuse hospitality workers for increasing prices to keep up with the demand. 

Meanwhile, these people are the type to turn right back to their home country and brag about how they’re somehow rejecting capitalism by using their power as the exploiting class.
