can you imagine being the doctors in this situation, and every year you get a card from the same insane woman that you couldn't care less about, but you live rent free in her head. the funniest part is that the cards probably go right into the trash without ever being opened. nothing is "weighing"

They told her to kill her child. I already wouldn’t want any of them as my doctor, but especially not if they “couldn’t care less” about being that wrong and almost sentencing a child to death.

I would hope that the first card would have been enough to stop them from ever recommending abortion for a “potential disability” again.

I hope they keep recommending abortion for such pregnancies. This woman was the exception, not the rule. She got so fucking lucky her kid wasn’t afflicted with something like Tay-Sachs, Trismoy 18, or other such disabilities that just slowly kill actual, feeling babies. I hope those doctors know how important their role is and don’t let this one chick make them doubt their professional opinion.

She got to choose to have the baby, I commend her for making the best choice for her. Let others do the same.

I personally know several people, including my husband, whose parents were told they would not survive. I am very thankful those people are in my life, and they wouldn’t be if their parents had listened to the first diagnosis they received.

So basically:

Get a second opinion and don’t kill babies.

Fetuses are not babies, they are fetuses. If someone no longer wants to be pregnant, for any reason, they should be able to get an abortion.

We will always have way to help others, there will always be studies and tests and ways to help babies and children born with issues. But forcing someone to remain pregnant is not the way to make progress happen.

I’m glad you know those people. I personally know people like that as well, I also know the seriousness of not taking a doctor’s advice and having to watch babies suffer until they died a slow and painful death. They didn’t deserve that.

New research in helping babies with disabilities is actually increasing opportunities to correct issues in utero. Look up “in utero spina bifida surgery”.

There’s 9 months of development happening while a baby is in utero, and researchers are really just scratching the surface of how these disabilities develop. We may see more and more in utero interventions that allow people with congenital disabilities to have better outcomes.

Or if people listen to doctors like the one this woman had, we’ll just have more dead children*.

I still can't get over jinx purring. I never knew how happy he was or how much he loves me. he's been purring since I got home, every time I say hi to him. my husband says he's always purring like that, I just never heard it before

went down to the village river and it was so nice!! the river is pretty low rn because of the lack of rain but when it rains lots I want to go back and see it go fast and hear it

popped my hearing aid on when I woke up and just listened to my husband breathe next to me. he's here, I get to wake up next to my best friend every day. he's alive. he loves me.

then he started snoring very loudly and it was even worse with the amplified sound

TIME TO REVIVE THIS POST. I heard lambs the other day and they make really sweet noises. I also went for a walk around a local nature reserve yesterday and heard lots of birds. and I met a dog who said "boof" at me. im still absolutely bowled over by the sound of the sea. in my job I rip up a lot of cardboard boxes and I enjoy the noise.

ENJOYING THE SOUNDS OF LIFE

Baby girl has an infection and all the doctors are struggling with IVs and PICCs for her. She's been poked so many times in the last 48 hours and still no PICC 💔😭

They finally got a long-line IV in earlier, not central but still much better than peripheral, and it's holding. Her first more serious infection is looking much better but she has developed a secondary infection. But thank you all for your prayers, she is doing better today, and finally getting regular antibiotics and fluids. Her infection was in the digestive tract so no food until it's fully resolved, so that added to the importance of getting a secure line for nutrition and fluids for her little body. She finally got up to 6 lbs a couple days ago ♡
