I played the most chaotic dnd one shot today, which I think is fitting both for the April fools side and the fact it was set in the feywild. I got to act ridiculous and had the whole group laughing AND do a full emotional backstory dump in the middle and got the best reactions! One of the characters was a red Dragonborn artificer obsessed with America, but America doesn’t exist and we had no idea what he was talking about. I honestly don’t think I could add enough context for this in a way that makes sense, but here’s my mid-session break doodle of my yuan-ti wild magic sorcerer Ezra as a pez dispenser. An Ez dispenser, if you will.

Astarion is so funny if you’re good at using him in your party

Astarion: I’m so weak and need to be protected the only thing I’m good for is sex I’m so helpless

Also Astarion: one shot sniping half the enemies, single handedly taking out the bosses by doing 50 plus critical damage, barley takes any damage while the rest of the party is stumbling back to camp with 2 hp, has the best mobility to help pick everyone up when they’re downed, not to mention gutting everyone with duel wielded daggers and short swords, can take like 50 actions in a turn.

#literally#my first run he was straight thief and had an ac of 20 with the cloak of displacement and evasion/uncanny dodge#so IF they could hit him#and that’s an IF#he could negate a good amount of damage#then did like half ansurs health in one turn#plus he could unlock and disarm basically everything I got into so many places I shouldn’t have it was great#on my second run he was reclassed into a warlock/bard and abused pact of the blade with college of swords#and became a demon with three regular sword attacks and a bonus action sword attack once he got duelists prerogative#and basically soloed ansur again and the emperor#and rolled a 41 in persuasion!#I took a picture it’s the highest dice roll I’ve seen in game and it wasn’t a crit!#bg3#astarion

The most fun part of the party romances being separated from the post-goblin raid party is the completely batshit timing.

#my tav was hit on twice today#first was laezel#which was actually accidental ans unfortunately cooincided with recruiting karlach to take ger place#so first i had to turn her down and then awkwardly be like 'ok bye you stay at camp now'#the second was astarion#who i was actively trying to romance#and who decided to preposition me while standing over the monster hunters corpse in a horrible bog#to make it weirder i still havent triggered rafael somehow and i dont know how ive made it this far#baldurs gate 3#bg3#astarion#lae'zel#living his true bard destiny

new zelda game is eerie because it makes me feel like i am just playing playing breath of the wild again but everything is new and unfamiliar. like excuse me what's going on? i should know what i'm doing. i guess this is how link feels.

perhaps one of my hotter takes as a queer person but i’m never coming out again. you can figure it out or live in pure ignorance but either way it’s not my problem. the worst thing society ever tried to teach us was that coming out is an obligation. it’s not. it’s a privilege for you to know the depths of who i am, my sexuality included.

God, I can't tell you how much the "there's not enough enrichment in my enclosure" joke has helped my mental health. Because, for some reason I can't comprehend, pretending that I'm a zoo keeper caring for an animal (which is also me) just makes everything easier to comprehend. Like "Your head gets screwey when you're apartment is messy" just doesn't carry as much resonance as "The tiger becomes agitated when its enclosure is cluttered" because then I'll be like, no shit? The tiger? I've gotta keep things nice and clean for the tiger.
