I'm old. Older than these kids crying over women lead roles in Star Wars. I've been a comic book/video game/computer/SF/fantasy nerd/geek/fan for more years than they've been alive.

My role models were Superman, Captain America, the Flash. I identified with Spider-Man and the X-Men. I cheered when a group of men & women, humans and aliens defeated the Empire.

I want more people to enjoy what I enjoy. To experience the stories and characters I love. Not shut them out. Not act as a gatekeeper. Not make people pass a test so they can say they love something.

Not get angry a woman is the hero in this story.

How can you wear Superman's symbol or love Captain America or Spider-Man and still be a giant racist, homophobic, misogynist?
