When rounding the holes for the front of the speaker build, I needed to ride the roundover bit's bearing on something, so I placed a board with the same sized hole underneath, worked like a charm! New video on my YouTube channel - Building a Bluetooth speaker! This was a really fun build, I used white oak for the front and maple for the surround. Also, this video was sponsored by @BlueApron - really nice to not have to think about food when you're in the midst of building, but to get fresh ingredients right to your door ready to turn into delicious meals... August approved 😋 check out the video! Link in bio. #ad #speaker #bluetooth #building https://www.instagram.com/p/BqNI0VuF3tZ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7r4eu8e1imnp
Drilling holes in 1/4 inch white oak for the rear mounted speakers to attach to. 🔈🔈 I've been editing the full build video of this Bluetooth speaker project, and it's ready to go out tomorrow! This project turned out pretty sweet, stay tuned... 😊 https://www.instagram.com/p/BqL2y0DFLy5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lpw3kk8sfxl1
For my next project I'm making a Bluetooth speaker using maple and white oak. I really wanted to make mitered corners because it's such a clean look, however they can be a bit tricky to get just right. In the past I've used the miter saw for those cuts, however for this project I made a basic sled for the table saw which worked out better. https://www.instagram.com/p/BqFpNPJFIzO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1u5rdxwcrlcvb
You know that moment when most of the work is done and you're at the stage of putting it all together? I think that's my favorite. The mortise and tenons went together real nice in this coffee table build, check out the full process from rough sawn boards to finished table on my YouTube channel, link in bio. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpw2HtyFeEo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1o5u8495nuxrc
To create the mortises for the Parsons style coffee table (video of the full build up on my YouTube channel!) I built this little jig where I insert each leg, and it set the borders for where the router could go. This made it super fast and accurate to create perfect mortises, two in each leg. I used an 1/4 inch spiral upcut bit, which left me with slightly rounded corners. However, instead of squaring each mortise with a chisel, I rounded each tenon slightly instead which was pretty fast and made for a great fit. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpr0ro9ls1j/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lhcu7lad6smf
My new Parsons style coffee table video is now up on Youtube! I used roughsawn white oak from @hackettenterprises which I milled down, mostly using hand planes. For joinery, I made mortise and tenons. This was quite the project, go check it out, link in bio! #coffeetable #whiteoak #milling #handplane #joinery #mortiseandtenon #table #woodworking https://www.instagram.com/p/BpreN_3FfvI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=glps18eurqvd
Making tenons on the rails for the Parsons table using a dado stack on the table saw. This was the first time I used the dado stack and it was just perfect here. First I was debating cutting these tenons by hand, but after doing it this way, I'm so happy I did it this way instead. https://www.instagram.com/p/BppPHJ2Fg28/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=a8e3piet4phd
One of the things I wanted in my new tablesaw stand was an organized go-to drawer that contains everything I always reach for - like push sticks, measuring tape, pencils etc... I have a brand new video out on my Youtube channel, all about building this tablesaw stand complete with plenty of outfeed space, t-track, clamping space and LOTS of storage! Check it out and let me know what you think, link in bio. https://www.instagram.com/p/BpUf59OFkS6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1pypdkw9xw40k
In my latest video on YouTube I pay a visit to @hackettenterprises - a family owned sawmill here in Virginia with an awesome selection of beautiful slabs and rough sawn lumber. I love going to these kind of places and I left with a bunch of locally grown white oak, which I'll be using for a couple of projects coming up. If you're in the area and looking for a lumber resource, you've got to check them out! https://www.instagram.com/p/BpCky-ll1No/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xu5yp3h7q186
I've got a new video up on my YouTube channel where I'm going over changes to the shop lately... like taking apart this old bench the previous owner left. Who else dislikes nails as a means to attach a board! Check out the video, link in bio. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo_5-M8FMxM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=bm6xnx2lhzgn
When are they going to make router bits that leave a square instead of a round end? 😁 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo7ZCXyF6qw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xzz53qxrioaj
I decided it would be useful to have a t-track in the top of my tablesaw stand, so routing a groove to make it fit perfectly. Since I'll be using this table as a general workspace as well, it's nice to have some place to clamp down projects, or the dust collection hose when using a hand held router for example. I really want to add lots of useful features to this table saw stand and utilize all the space within it as well as possible. What would you add to make it awesome? https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo62GTvlXM-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=87smry8a2yzo
New video on my Youtube channel all about building these shop projects. Check it out, link in bio! https://www.instagram.com/p/BoywtZ3l2zG/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=724at9qisjdv
I've been working on some sturdy, practical workbenches and tables for the shop to organize things and get some more work spaces. I think pocket screws are perfect for this application! Can't wait to have all these pieces completed so I can start to get things a bit more organized around here! https://www.instagram.com/p/BopKx4Kl4cQ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=16w89jqeiejkm
Well now I have a reason to make a new handle 😁 https://www.instagram.com/p/BoZnr5clbkW/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1kkkvxzrgpzmq
