i was curious how long it had been since i had been on tumblr, my last post was sept 2020, so mid-early-pandemic makes sense that i came here for a little bit

but the real whammy is that my bio says i’m 22

i am literally 27 now lmfao

one time when I was really hecking tired i tried to phrase “i like steak and stuff on the rarer side when a restaurant or friend cooking for me permits that to happen” and it came out as “if left unattended I may eat raw beef” and i have no idea what PONG style antics my brain got up to to lead the train of thought down that disused rail line

this is why i still use this site, if you say something funny enough, there is a random-ass chance that Domesday Book-level illumination will be created out of your bullshit

see its funny because both of those people, in this case, were me.

most of the discussion around cis people playing trans characters focuses on the massive harm it does (in particular to twoc) and taking away jobs from trans people, which absolutely SHOULD be the focuses, but i feel like someone also needs to tell cis people too that THEY’RE JUST BAD AT PLAYING TRANS CHARACTERS

and to be fair that does also play into the massive harm part, because pretty much every cis person playing a trans person is just “well idk how to be the other gender from experience so i will just do every single stereotype” and that’s what terfs say about trans women

but like even removed from that, it is just bad quality acting that they wouldn’t accept in almost any other context (except like, scarjo doing yellowface) that makes whatever it is very awkward and bad to watch

This Post Was Brought To You By: adam from degrassi (who will always mean the world to me despite about it/him being the absolute worst)

binding with ace bandages, the WORST fashion sense on earth (and not even in a normal teenage boy bad fashion way??), this was specifically prompted by a cast photo where his pose is just like “okay let me spread my legs as far out as physically possible because that’s how Men stand”

like, you can try to argue “it’s bad BECAUSE he’s just come out as trans and he’s still learning and leaning into the stereotypes” but it very rarely comes off that way in the TV show, it comes off as a cis woman actress who did NOT want to play a transgender character, but still wanted to be on degrassi so she sucked it up, but also didn’t want to have to do something so AWFUL as cut her hair short so she wore that ugly fucking hat in Every Single Scene Ever, and then had him be only the second main cast member ever on degrassi to die, in an extremely traumatic and way in an incredibly offensive storyline, because she finally had enough and decided degrassi wasn’t worth having to play a trans person anymore

i hate it when men make fun of women for being vain. like you’ve structured society in such a way that we spend our entire lives chasing after the fleeting moments where we really and truly feel good about our appearances and then have the audacity to mock us for trying to “look pretty” like you’re constantly telling us to? shut the fuck up.

“You painted a naked woman because you enjoyed looking at her, put a mirror in her hand and you called the painting “Vanity,” thus morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you had depicted for you own pleasure.” ― John Berger, Ways of Seeing
