"Whatever Eddie's got, that's what you spend your life looking for. He had a unique presence, completely untrained, the kind of magnetism that only great actors have...the most astonishing natural ability. You can't teach that." — Dallas Smith

From ‘Saigon’ on the West End to Berlin on Broadway

As Eva Noblezada prepares to debut tonight as Sally Bowles on Broadway, we’re remembering a day in London in 2014. The original Kit Kat Club Emcee (and creative force in the London & NY productions), Eddie Redmayne, attended the sitzprobe for 18-year-old Eva’s London West End debut in the revival of ‘Miss Saigon.’

Her performance made her a star, and she later reprised her role on Broadway, going on to star in ‘Hadestown’ and ‘The Great Gatsby.’

The cast connection that brought Eddie to see her more than a decade ago: Her leading man in ‘Miss Saigon’ was Eddie’s “Les Miserables” brother on the Barricade, Alistair Brammer.

Break a leg, Eva!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Last year it's been amazing for us and for Eddie who gave us great satisfaction!! Cabaret was a huge success on Broadway! Eddie, Gayle and the entire talented cast performed at the August Winston Theater and at the Tony Awards giving us an amazing performance.

Many fans were able to meet Eddie and posted wonderful photos and videos!!

And finally....The Day of the Jackal!! incredible Eddie's transformation from Emcee to the jackal, from a enigmatic character to a ruthless sniper.

Waiting for new developments for the new project "Panic Carefully" , I wish you a happy 2025!

Thank you for being faithful to Eddie and for following me and other bloggers on this wonderful platform!!

Wonderful post! Happy New Year!

Another role for Dad

Eddie Redmayne has frequently named Julia Roberts as dad Richard Redmayne’s favorite actress, and now the actor has been cast to co-star with her and Elizabeth Olsen in a major Warner Bros. feature with Good Nurse + Jackal overtones — “a paranoid thriller that has tonal influences of Silence of the Lambs and involves the hunt for a cyber terrorist.”

Contractually, the film is set for a theatrical release before heading to streaming services. Filming timetable is TBD, and it remains to be seen when The Day of the Jackal will shoot its second season.

Day of the Jackal: Music matters

Like us, can’t get enough of the music from The Day of the Jackal? Here’s the official Sky TV playlist, evoking images of characters + scenes very effectively. Our personal wry humor favorite so far: The use of Bing Crosby singing “You Do Something To Me.” Yours?

Here’s more on the music choices:

And more on the title tune, “This Is Who I Am.” The singer, Celeste, also co-wrote and performed the haunting, Oscar-nominated “Hear My Voice” for “Trial of the Chicago 7,” in which Eddie appeared.

The Jackal approaches

With a new trailer and a flurry of stills, Peacock-SkyTV have revealed the scope and intensity of their 10-part “The Day of the Jackal”series, based on the iconic 1971 novel by Frederick Forsyth, ahead of its debut next month.

This is my video using the new and previously released stills, shot by Marcell Piti. They show a shapeshifting Eddie Redmayne as the elusive assassin, a fierce Lashana Lynch on his trail, and a stellar supporting cast against international backdrops.

And now there are two…

We have our second trailer for The Day of the Jackal 10-part series coming up in November on Peacock and Sky TV. This gives us even more of a look at the hunter-and-hunted dynamic between Eddie Redmayne’s stylish and deadly gun-for-hire and Lashana Lynch as the agent determined to neutralize him.

And ICYMI, here’s the first trailer.

Hunter + hunted

Eddie Redmayne was ‘discombobulated’ by the 10-part updating of The Day of the Jackal — and we can’t wait for Nov. 7 to see his take on one of literature and film’s most iconic killers. Historic ‘Willkommen’

Eddie Redmayne welcomes original Emcee Joel Grey to the Kit Kat Club NYC on his 92nd birthday, along with Cabaret composer John Kander.

Repost @susie_babani on IG: “best musical I’ve seen so far - Cabaret (which has always been a favourite of mine) currently in previews - partially transplanted from the London version I was meant to see back in December 2021 but the cast all got covid and the performance was cancelled - so I’ve had to wait a long time and cross an ocean to see #EddieRedmayne as the Emcee and #bebeneuwirth…It’s going to be a smash hit. But more surprises in store as #JoelGrey who starred in the movie was in the audience (it was his 92nd birthday today) and so was John Kander who wrote all the original music. Plus a fair bit of star spotting in the audience - Anderson Cooper, Molly Ringwald, Candace Bergen and I think Katie Couric (only got snaps of the latter two and the special guests).”

And a special treat:

Perfecting their art

Eddie Redmayne, The Emcee, + Natascia Diaz, who portrays Fraulein Kost, get ready for their final rehearsals for Monday’s opening of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club NYC. On Saturday’s schedule: An evening “invited rehearsal” for theatrical professionals + others associated with the cast. Eddie always remembers this Broadway tradition, which he last experienced in 2010 when he co-starred in “Red,” with great fondness. (Photo from IG@ladydiaz777. Photos below from IG @itsixchel)

The Shape Shifter is back, guided by his director’s vision

This stunning new image in the 3/27/24 New York Times is part of a well-deserved profile of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club director Rebecca Frecknall and how she has not only breathed new life into the Kander-Ebb musical but everything she’s touched. Eddie Redmayne made a brilliant choice in drawing her into the revival in London, opening Monday on Broadway. [Photo by Amir Hamja/NYT]
