Haf. She/Her. An Orphan Black fangirl used to live here. Now it is a new year, and I am a shell without a fandom. Hope you're having a good day.

occasionally there will be a queer person whose way of living their queerness is in conflict with our expectations and definitions for their label

at those times, we remember that queerness is not about the labels, or the definitions, or the rules of expected behaviour, but about living authentically to the crooked strangeness of our human conditions

i saw a video the other day detailing why we see so much about gaza🇵🇸 but not sudan🇸🇩

it comes down to these 3 key differences

  1. while gaza is much bloodier, gaza has journalists reporting daily. as a journalist you will be targeted viciously but it's a delayed risk because the enemy isn't on ground. your enemies are cowards who plot and kill you from afar.
  2. in sudan it's impossible to report anything because the enemy is walking down your street (if not in your house) like rabid dogs. you will be shot on sight. it's an immediate risk. there is no time to capture or comment on anything. whatever information you put out will be your first and last.
  3. in sudan, the updates come from the warring factions filming themselves, not from civilians. and you can imagine the bias and inaccuracy of their egotistical daily vlogs and official statements.

which is why it's more imperative than ever to follow Sudanese creators and journalists who do report on the little information that does come out.

disclaimer: palestinian press also deal with immediate risks when confronted with IDF on-ground.

Wait I want to know about the dangers of resin craft

It might depend a bit on the specific type of resin craft you're doing, but in general, uncured epoxy resin (so, resin in its liquid state) is a toxic substance that you not want to get on your skin, ingest or breath in, get in your eyes/mouth, etc. It's just a big no-no for your long-term health.

Once the resin is "inert" —cured + solid, essentially—it's totally fine to handle. But it's the uncured shit you need to be mindful of.

I do occasional resin 3D printing as a hobby and I learned that you have to be very aware of keeping your working area clean, of properly curing resin before disposing of it (do not pour uncured resin down sinks/drains) and make sure you're in a well ventilated area—preferably far far away from high traffic parts of the house/pets/food prep areas (mine is in the basement).

Also a little Breaking Bad cosplay is necessary to keep your hands clean and your eyes/lungs safe. Basically, lots of boxes of disposable gloves and a respirator are must-haves. This chick does a good basic overview of best practices in the context of making resin jewelry.

Why is every diy hack video secretly a massive fucking health hazard

Cover your bulbs with paper. Do it. Put that all around your hot fucking lightbulbs all day and night. It will be so cute. Sand that plastic down with no protection. Wash those shavings away into the water supply. PLEASE. If you put plastic waste into the oven you can make cute things and re use the oven and baking trays to cook your food on it will be so nice!! You want to use craft resin without a mask or gloves. You want to put it in your mouth. Use it as a plate. There will be no problems here! Just cute decor! You can dremel anything!!! Dont even think twice about it!

This is a damn MOOD FOR LIFE, I tell you what.

This is beautiful, not just because of the lyrics, harmonies and relatable message, but also because Cinderella (Brandy), One of the Hercules Muses (Roz Ryan) , and Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis) are singing it.   Like we have been blessed.
