Okay, I think a half dozen pics/gifs of Nine looking up at the sky getting flagged is tonights step too far.

I need sleep. Later folks. Probably a LOT later, lol

An assortment of Ten’s ties is apparently also horribly offensive. Damn, I need a drink to deal with this crap!

I see they’ve really gotten a long way on fine tuning the filters for “adult” material, huh?

Just scrolled through some of my stuff, and found three reblogs flagged; one was purely a conversation (not a single image) talking about notifications not appearing, one was a PETA advert, and one was a group of John Simm gifs containing nothing even remotely “adult” in nature.

EDIT - make that FIVE. I just found another that contains three images of David Tennant. Profession ones, taken from a Guardian article, where he’s wearing more clothes than anyone really ought to need. Followed by one featuring half a dozen gifs of his hands waving around during an interview.

Someone please tell me this is a joke? Please?

Way to go staff! Awesome work, as always.

Tumblr has become horrible

Twice as many ads since I was last here too. Guess it;s time to start “updating” my ad-block filters again

No it’s not. My pal Katie had her entire blog flagged NSFW and most of her GIFs wiped and they were just Tennant GIFs with remarks about his acting and how basically gorgeous he is. This is why so many are leaving Tumblr for Dteamwidth.

I've found half a dozen so far on mine, that are all totally innocent, but they're all reblogs so I can't even appeal them. They really are killing this place. It's sad

Hmm, that cute little scene where Ten asks Rose why she’s staring at him, and she says “my Mum is still on board”, giffed over a whole FOUR images, is apparently far, FAR too racy for you to see. sorry folks.

Backup your Tumblrs (Please!)

Hey there everyone! First of all: I’m backing up every tumblr that will let me.

12/7/2018 is todays date, for referencing this later.

For my legal protection: I NEED YOUR PERMISSION! TO DOWNLOAD YOUR BLOG FOR ARCHIVAL PURPOSES. I can get in a *lot* of trouble for pulling this much data *without your permission*. With that in mind: I’ve got a google form that’s going to let me back up your data. Fill this out please? I’ve had less than 20 blogs ask for this.

THE QUE

I don’t want to see our history die. Who can I back up? EVERYONE! ANYONE!. EVERYTHING WE CAN. What can I back up: Everything that’s *published* on your tumblr. Drafts, asks unanswered, messages, communications between people that are behind a login screen, I can’t scrape. I’m using the tumblr python .utills scrape. How much space do I have? ENOUGH. I’ve got 4tb now, and I’m compressing files and moving them onto it as we speak. I’ve got the capacity to do 5 blogs at a time. If you visit my paypal or ko-fi, I can get more storage for us. It takes me eighty nine seconds to backup a blog with less than 5k posts. Seriously guys. Sides, mains, if you’ve got your content on it, I want to back it up. If you include an email, when I have a chance, I’ll send you an archived copy of your blog. It will likely be a dropbox file, or a github file, behind a password. Please: Reblog this and tag your people. The more eyes on this the better. ANY TUMBLR IS WELCOME TO ASK FOR THIS. Please. Even if it’s just in case. I need you to ask before I can download your blog. And a side note: For *fucks* sakes my title was *not supposed to be prophetic*.

reblogging for signal boost, but also because I’m doing it myself.

Why? Because it’s taken A WEEK for the tumblr “export” tool to even create a file for me, and despite almost a dozen attempts, on a pretty high speed net connection, I’ve still yet to actually GET a copy, as the download repeatedly fails.

people talk a lot of shit about tumblr (most of the time, rightly so) but there are so many fandoms that i never would’ve been a part of if i hadn’t seen a gif or a fic or a discussion that made me curious enough to check them out. for that, i will always be thankful.

I have two things flagged. One is because I said “stoner”, the other because I said “bongwater”. Neither post is about pot but they’re apparently ***forbidden***

I do think they’re focusing on tags.  And despite what they say, that includes text posts.  I used tag replacer on xkit and switched my adult warning tag from what they are filtering to another one.  I’d encourage everyone to look at your tags and if you see something they’re filtering, switch it to something else.  It can take a while if you have a lot of uses but it’s worth it to avoid the hassle of being flagged.

I just want to belabor this point for a moment.

These images are not explicit. These pictures show two adults, engaging in consensual kissing. That’s it. It isn’t violent, it isn’t pornographic. It’s literally just two adult humans sharing a kiss.

It’s ludicrous and insulting that – especially in 2018 – this is flagged, either by some sort of badly-designed algorithm, or by shitty homophobic people.

And to just restate something that I reblogged a little bit ago:
the reality is that for a lot of the LGTBQ+ community, particularly younger members still discovering themselves and members in extremely homophobic environments where most media sites were banned (but Tumblr wasn’t even considered important enough to be), this was a bastion of information and self-expression.

I am so lucky. I am so massively lucky and privileged. I’m rich, I’m white, I’m a CIS male in a heterosexual relationship. I can look just about anywhere in the world and see myself represented in art and media. My experience has been normalized to the exclusion and oppression of people who don’t share that experience.

That. Must. Change.

I can only imagine what it must feel like to fight every second of ever day just to exist in a world that is filled with people who share my demographic (but not my values) using their wealth and power and privilege to attack you, simply for being who you are, for existing. I can only imagine how terrible and suffocating and exhausting that must be.

According to marginalized and vulnerable people, this change in policy will directly hurt them, and that’s indefensible.

The ridiculousness of this policy change can be simply illustrated by the image here being flagged. Why was it flagged? Because homophobia is rampant and too many people who should stand up against it are cowards who don’t want to risk their own wealth and privilege in the service of people who can’t defend themselves.

I applaud and admire and respect the hell out of everyone in the LGBTQ community here who have formed networks and friendships and relationships and support structures for each other. You have worked so hard to create and maintain a safe space for each other, and I’m embarrassed, appalled, and furious that people who look like me are making your lives – hell, your very existence – so hard.

I’m just one person, and maybe it won’t matter or make a difference, but I stand with you, not just on this website, but in our entire universe. I see you. I love you. I value you.
