IN A WORLD WHERE BEAUTY AND ATTRACTIVENESS HAVE BECOME SO COMMONPLACE AND MUNDANE THE EXCEPTIONAL UGLINESS HAS BECOME DIVINE
I SAW AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR A CAR THAT LOOKS LIKE EVERY OTHER CAR AND THEY COMPARED IT TO A UNUSUAL UGLY LITTLE VEHICLE AND ITS STRANGENESS WAS FAR MORE CAPTIVATING THAN THE SLEEK BORING CAR THE AD WAS ACTUALLY FOR
US President Jimmy Carter once gave a speech at a college in Japan and was surprised to hear an eruption of laughter after his opening joke was translated for the audience.
When he asked how the interpreter had managed to word it so well, he ducked his head and looked away before finally replying, “I told the audience President Carter told a funny story. Everyone must laugh.”

Genuinely I enjoy criticisms of America as a nation for Obvious Reasons of Color but so many of y’all are just like “I hate Americans because they [something only white people do] [something only white people do] [something we’re forced to deal with due to our government] [something that even white Americans will mock you for doing] [something only rich people can afford to do] [movie trope] [something you would only bring up if you’re fatphobic] [something that Canada also does but hides behind the “we’re just super nice teehee” stereotype] [something that your country does but you recognize is not inherently the fault of all citizens] [literally just capitalism] [something you’ll only see in like, Maine] [something Americans complain about constantly] [movie trope] [something only white people do]”
This is a fucking outrage. Her life was not disposable and that’s how she was treated. Fuck this shit.
[ID: a tweet that reads: “The fact that people online can rapidly accept "bones/no bones" as a framework for understanding the energy of the day without further explanation really reinforces that society empathizes with animals more than disabled + neurodivergent folks. 🤷” End ID]
What does this even mean? I'm disabled and neurodivergent and I feel like I am reading a different language.

July 5th, 2021: A TERF-run historical girlboss account mysteriously fails to mention the French Resistance killed Violette Morris because they were a fucking Nazi.
Terfs are all basically Nazis now, is the takeaway.
Got to this part and was so disappointed in OP's taste in men. No wonder I got "nobody" as my result.
me, an autonomous adult in college: *looks up tips for managing adhd on a deadline*
every single result: AS A PARENT to help YOUR CHILD WITH ADHD monitor YOUR CHILD'S behavior and reward HIM for doing work because CHILDREN WITH ADHD need constant support-
I'm not even exaggerating.
YEP. As far as I can guess, we're supposed to either "grow out of it" and become perfect facsimiles of neurotypical people, or else assumed to be so impaired we're incapable of living independently or using the internet. That we might be adults reading this shit doesn't occur. The only people who actually talk about ADHD to people with ADHD are ... people with ADHD.
DSM-IV criteria didn't even acknowledge the possibility of diagnosing adults. DSM-V does, at least?
Anyway I got diagnosed at 28.
And I know someone a few years older than me who has not been diagnosed, which obviously cannot possibly have anything to do with any coping skills they taught themself in the first three-plus decades of their life. They fell short of the diagnostic criteria in areas that they've literally spent their entire adult life (and then some!) focused on improving their abilities in those areas. So it's definitely not ADHD! (It's ADHD.)
Yeah, I’m pretty sure both my autism and ADHD diagnoses only went down as easily as they did because I took my mum, and she spent the entire time telling them about when I was a kid. They basically retroactively diagnosed 5-year-old me...
I’ve got a couple of friends who didn’t take their parents for their ADHD diagnosis, and only one got it, and they had an eating disorder, which I think is the one comorbidity that a lot of clinicians here are starting to pay attention to.
I only got my autism and adhd diagnoses because my diagnostician ignored everything my mom said lol.
At this point, masks are performative and I just don't care anymore. I will wear one when I am required to and not wear one when I'm not. I am vaccinated and tired of thinking about it. If they want to prove it's not performative, mandate them everywhere.
teenagers have figured out that you can fake a positive covid test and get out of school using lemon juice and the newspapers sending me push notifications about this seem to expect my reaction to be “oh no those horrible youths” when it is in fact “lmao based af”
adults have spent the last 15 months obsessing over forcing kids back into in-person schooling regardless of the risks and without vaccines or proper mitigation measures and now kids are using the pandemic to fight back against a school system that’s an oppressive mental health-destroying horror on its best day, and I’m supposed to think this is a bad thing? idk fellow grups it sounds like you fucked around and found out
