no you don’t understand this scene is literally a work of art for so many reasons…1) tricking us into believing that the statue he was standing in front of in the intro is what he was commemorating but instead panning out as mayor dewey announces the presence of the giant bowl of ice cream 2) the fact that he has to look at notes in his sleeve to remember the slogan “let’s all scream for ice cream” 3) the revelation that there was an entire meeting dedicated to creating the largest bowl of ice cream in beach city and the revelation that mayor dewey was unaware that ice cream can melt

Okay so after thinking about it, I actually wanna talk about the Gem’s body construction; to be more specific, scientifically speaking… the tiddums. 

Seriously tho. People tend to draw the gems with boobs, but they dont have them. I think the reason is twofold; one, I think people assume the lack is part of the shows abstraction, and two… the conflation of boobs=femme. Which is complete BS for reasons I shouldn’t rlly have to go into here. 

But I’m gonna put my money where my mouth is. The thing is, the show DOES make a distinction for older female-id’d *human* characters. 

Sadie is a really good example for this; you can see the line of her chest goes up and out, and then back in, making a simplified chest outline. 

Its a very distinct line shape. And it shows up with other teen-adult ladies. 

Compare to a male character similar to Sadies build; Ronaldo

He has a exaggerated line for his belly, but his chest is a singular swoop up from there to his shoulder. 

This is even more noticeable in his dad, who’s indicated to be muscular; he has a single long curve for the torso shape. 

Now lets compare this to the gems. 

Honestly, the way their chests are expressed is a lot more similar to how the guys on the show are Even Garnets line is more like a single curve, with no shift to indicate a change in build separating torso and breast like sadie has; it’s mostly a contrast from how her waist is cinched. Their torso lines are curved, but only as much as Elder Fryman is; which is a muscular curve.

Tadaah! Even Garnet has a *singular* line; no differentiation. Now, I will admit real fast theres ONE exception to this…. 

HOWEVER… we do actually have at least a few good looks at her from further in the past. And guess what she doesn’t have?

Tah-dahhh. ROSE has distinct breasts *only when pregnant with Steven*. Which to me, indicates it’s clearly a part of human biology, but not really Gems. The designs of more recent gems (who are more alien in general) reenforces this. 

And for me? It’s… important. Im a trans guy, and me having boobs doesn’t make me female. And people with boobs aren’t always female. The gems are fem-identified, but also gender neutral/non binary. It doesn’t make them any less femme appearing or anything. And folks can do what they want in fanart and all; and of course porn and whatnot. BUT also it would be un to see fanart (and porn and suchlike) WITH flat chests. And if nothing else, I hope I’ve clearly shown its not really the stylization in the show.
