Sometimes…

Playing FFXIV, you just happen upon something that reminds you of him. Maybe a newbie is wearing a haubergeon. Or an elezen has that hair cut and it’s just a shade too blue. Where you had gone a few days, fighting samurai, or doing an Ivalice dungeon and it’s not so bad… but then that one thing you want on the market board is in Ishgard, and damn it, you aren’t going to pay the tax… but you pass a spot where he once stood, you see a soldier with that shield that failed him… and you’re right back on that bridge in the setting sun and it hits you like a ton of bricks… He’s never coming back.

You will never be over it. And the game will always remind you. And deep down you don’t ever want the game to forget him… because you never could. And part of you wonders if it’s right to feel pain for so long over a character in a game…

But, even if he’s fiction, in Eorzea he was your best friend and it’s completely normal to miss him.

I miss him…

I actually do feel a little pang in my heart when the WoL does and sees so many amazing things, and it hits me that Haurchefant doesn’t get to experience any of it.

I remember going into the Steppe for the first time and being blown away by its beauty and then feeling a little sad because he couldn’t be there to see it. :c

Somehow I think he may get to see us more than when he was alive, watching from his lofty perch, but we don’t get to see him. Unless in a fever dream! Considering how many crystals we have on our person at anytime for crafting, and with all the pain of his death so heavy on us (or so says Fordola) I can’t believe we haven’t summoned him yet... or did we?
