For several years now this poem has hung in my room. I don’t know, it’s just comforting…
“I just think I—up until a few years ago, I was close-minded in my conception of what could bring me sustenance. That it’s not this kind of—achievement can be very empty. I think it’s glorified nonetheless, but it can be very empty. And, you know, it’ll sound like whatever it’ll sound like, but just slow it down. You know, appreciate the food, appreciate the conversation, appreciate — and there is great joy in that.”
Fascinating is a word I use for the unexpected.
Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most… human.
