you can preach about slut-shaming all you want, but you can’t deny there’s something very wrong with 13 and 14-year old girls going out in skirts and dresses so short they barely cover their asses and shirts with necklines so low they show off cleave they haven’t got yet, drinking and even smoking and hooking up with guys before they even have a substantial knowledge of how sex and sexual relationships work.

the issue here isn’t that young girls are wearing revealing clothes, it’s that society has told them they have to. from the age that kids are exposed to the internet- which is usually in elementary school, from what i’ve seen- anything “childish” is forced out of the mainstream and bullied relentlessly by adults who think it’s cringe. kids, and girls in particular, are given the choice to grow up or be bullied.

and that’s not a choice at all. so they buy makeup products and wear oversexualized clothes and fast to make themselves look skinner. and then companies pick up on it and realize they can make money from an entirely new demographic, and the cycle continues. it’s bad

Just going by Robin's whole "no one knew who their father was" but combining it with his mention of having "kept his dad's skin", I headcanon he had many "dads" growing up in the tribe, he was never certain which one was his by blood, some were probably even his mother's cousin or brother and all looked alike. Calling someone 'Dad' in his time had little to do with paternity and more who helped Mother raise you or was her favourite mate etc.

But basically he was like Sophie in Mamma Mia, he had lots of dads and most of them were good and helped him become the little skrunkly we love.

this is a niche one but instead of "they would not fuckin say that" it's "they would not fucking use American sign language".

ASL is not the only sign language. two british characters in your fanfiction would not be using ASL. England in fact has its own kind of sign language, BSL, that forms a sign family with many other sign languages around the world.

ASL isn't even the original member of its sign family, it comes from french sign language. do you know sign languages aren't related to spoken languages? that's an important one! it's not a direct 1:1 with people speaking English around the world. people in other countries don't learn ASL just in case they run into an usamerican or Canadian (who do often use it)

i know the entire world is the USA or whatever and sign languages do sometimes borrow from ASL for signs they don't have, but please be aware that there are other sign languages and families in the world that are not in fact ASL.

and on a mostly related note, a lot of media seems to only ever depict sign language in the context of mutism instead of the WAY WAY more common deafness. especially in fanworks where they don't want to have to deal with a character being more inconveniently disabled than just "can't talk", but it's still noticeable in normal media also.

going to a collection of signing characters and going "well you can't all be hearing but mute". like the ratio of deaf to mute characters would be so disproportionately innacurate it's almost insulting. past a certain point it feels like you just don't want to deal with deaf people.

SO we are once again gonna have to move due to our landlord wanting to take the house back, this time because their daughter wants to buy it, but at least this landlord has actually told us with a reasonable amount of time to find somewhere else unlike the last one :)))))))

Something that has still really stuck with me about Ghosts long after watching it is just how healthy Alison and Mike's relationship is... That was the first time I saw a couple in media I consume that I thought had a genuinely healthy relationship and it is still shocking.

Part of what made Ghosts for me was Alison and Mike's relationship. If they had been written to be a couple that fights over money, are constantly at each other's throats about house renovations, and the setbacks they face it would have made them unbearable to watch.

I genuinely felt a connection to them and I love their relationship as characters. Alison and Mike struggling to start out felt so relatable, instead of them both having pre-established careers and stable lives. I loved the messiness and chaotic nature of their lives and seeing them grow as people. Alison and Mike had their conflicts but in the end, they always worked it out! The only real times they had any genuine fights that I can recall were when Mike almost got blown up by a literal prototype mine (honestly valid- I would have been mad too king-) and over Bear Grills. Even then their fights did not end in tears or saying regrettable things or worse coming to blows, they handled it in a very healthy way.

Mike cares so much about Alison and is so supportive of her, her dreams, and her weird ghost things. Mike genuinely puts up with so much from the ghosts for not even being able to see them and can hardly interact with them. He would get annoyed at times and rightfully so but he would never be extremely resentful or hateful to Alison for the ghost's behaviors.

They are genuinely the best couple I have seen in media, granted I don't watch much but STILL.

IDK where this ramble came from but they linger in my head quite a lot.

I always love how this is especially apparent in "It's Behind You" (S4 Christmas episode). They get trapped in really bad traffic for roughly 12 hours and miss Christmas with Mike's family.

Not only do they make the best of it, they never snap at each other or argue. And when they get home Alison says something like "that was really fun actually" and I remember thinking wow that's a healthy relationship.

I'm pretty sure a situation like that would make anyone snap but they just rolled with it and enjoyed their car food
