Why do Americans call ‘Richard’s ‘dick’ and ‘Robert’s ‘Bob’ I don’t get it

I can explain this! Richard and Robert are English names originally, and for a while, rhyming slang was a quite common in Cockney English. Basically it’s just nicknaming shit with random words that rhyme with it. So you’d call the stairs “apples and pears” or the telephone the “dog-and-bone”. So as Rick is slang for Richard, “Dick” became slang for “Rick” because, well, it rhymed. Same goes for Rob and Bob. This construction has all but fallen out of use, and Dick and Bob are the final hangers-on of this weird little trend.

Cut myself on 500 year old roofing tile and had to get a tetanus shot.

Rode a borrowed bicycle with no brakes, tried to take a corner when going too fast on a steep hill, hit a metal road sign instead, cut my chin open. 37 years ago. 

Puncture scar from trying to pet horses and leaning too far over the barbed wire.

Scar on my knee when I was five from tripping and falling because a clown was chasing me on Halloween night.

Scar on my forehand bc when I was 5 I ran around with a blanket on my head and ran right into the corner of my grandmas bed and had to almost get stitches

Imagine how much historical knowledge wasn’t written down because our ancestors thought: “What idiot isn’t going to know this?”
