Hey y'all! I know you love drawing references over here, so I wanted to show you a preview of a set that one of my Patrons requested.

If you like this stuff and are able to, please consider supporting me via Patreon (where you can find the extended photo set, including shots from cover and up a tree), or dropping a few quid over on Kofi. It means the world to me, and helps me keep going with my archery shenanigans!

And as always, please tag me in your art if you're comfortable to! I love to see it ❤️

@blumineck genuine curious question: can you describe a situation in which an archer would consider drawing from behind their head to be the right move strategically or tactically? I mean other than just styling on your fellow archers or Impressing Someone, which it’s clear it would be ideal for 😂

Sure! This move is called a Jarmakee, and it has 2 main purposes:

1) Shooting backwards, specifically when you can't afford to turn your whole body (like while riding a horse). It lets you get a full draw length while still keeping your hips facing the way you're moving (see the 2nd picture)

2) Shooting downwards (e.g. From castle walls or horseback again). It allows you to hit a strong draw without needing to tilt your entire body to avoid the string.

It's also a much more effective alternative to the standard 'sideways shot' for shooting over low cover without exposing your whole body: the bow can be horizontal to allow the limbs to move freely, but you can draw much further back than if the string is under your arm.

Hope that helps!
