Betty squeezed her eyes closed for a moment and had to remind herself that she had to do this. Just like before. Taking a deep breath, she took a hesitant step forward, hoping maybe that was enough to at least catch him off guard. "Bruce," she started, reaching out a hand cautiously. "look at me. Bruce, it's me. Please. It's Betty." Quick flashes of when he had first had his exposure ran through her mind and she knew this could easily and with her in the hospital, or worse. But he needed her.
On a murderous rampage my character has cornered yours. What does your character say in 10 words or less to try and save their skin?
hulk shouted in response to hearing banners name. he took up one of the desks and threw it to the other side of the room, a deafening crash being heard. he shouted again before slamming his fists against the floor. then pink girl said her name and hulk quietened down just for a second. her hand raised deftly in response to his anger. pink girl was quiet as she reached out to him. hulk stood confused for a moment then grunted in response.

Betty froze as she watched him, her heart in her throat as he doubled over and fell onto the floor, watching as he changed back. Bruce’s whine sounded almost pained and she scooted closer, resting her hand on his shoulder. “Bruce?” She asked, frowning and using her fre hand to brush her bangs from her face. “Bruce– slow down. It’s okay, you’re okay… I’m here.” Betty muttered, trying to keep the panic from her voice.
bruce kept his head down as the final touches of green left his skin. moments like this were hard to come out of. he felt her fingers against his shoulder and pulled away from her for just a moment. using all his remaining strength, he pressed his fist against the floor, using it to push himself up. he knelt for a second and groaned.
“ow,” he murmured, shaking away the final moments. he sat up on his knees and groaned, looking at her, pushing her hair from her face. “you alright?”

She chucked quietly at him, shaking her head and tucking a stray hair behind her ear. But as the conversation grew serious again, the smile melted and all she could do was frown. Couldn’t go back, or wouldn’t? “You should have let someone know you’re okay. Tony, at least.” Betty desperately tried to keep the hurt from her voice as she kept her arms crossed over her chest.
“No… no one had a tracker on you, the only thing they found a trace of was the quinjet.” She murmured, shaking her head again. “I just… knew. Tony said he hadn’t heard a word from you, so this was my best guess.” Betty managed a smile again though it was slightly tense. “You can keep your pants for now.”
Her eyes closed and she couldn’t help leaning into his touch as he stroked her hair back. Bruce had a point, yes, but Betty maintained that he was wrong. “Stop…” she muttered, putting her hand over his and pressing a kiss to his palm. “Bruce, I know I can’t convince you to come home, but I refuse to let you talk about yourself like that. I refuse to let you push me away. You’re not a monster, you helped save the world, okay? More than once… you saved me too, remember?” Betty knew she was fighting an uphill battle with him like this, but she didn’t care. He was stubborn, but she was even more so.
“I certainly hope you don’t think I’m going anywhere, because I’m not. I’m staying here. So… I’ll find somewhere to stay. Even if it’s… on a pile of blankets on the floor. I’m not leaving you alone.” Betty murmured, biting the inside of her cheek.
] - it was odd having her near him again. like the first time seeing her after the accident and the mess in harlem to finding her again after the events with loki. feeling a bit bashful, he looked away before shaking his head. “tony’s got enough to worry about without me.” he said with a shrug. “i’m... well yeah okay maybe i should of said something, but i just... felt like it would be better.”
he smiled as she reassured him about the tracker in his pants. he had been teasing but given tony’s ridiculous habits, he wouldn’t have put it past his friend. he looked at her hand as she pressed hers over it and kissed his palm. he looked back at the cabin. “betty, i’m past pushing you away.” he told her. “i’m not doing that any more.”
he nodded towards the cabin. “you want to come in?” he asked, trying to drop the conversation and stepping up the stairs of the porch, picking up the fishing net that he had discarded to one side.
“you can stay with me,” he offered quickly before stopping and clearing his throat. “you can... i mean, if you want to.” - [

Sharon Carter will be in Cap 3. Like, yay, more Sharon, but *holy fuck* Russo brothers, do not do it. That relationship is problematic as fuck and creep. DO NOT DO IT.

I still can’t even figure out where they would fit a romance – the last time we saw her she’d posed as a nurse in an infectious disease ward (how Steve’s mother died) to essentially spy on him, and Steve was understandably pissed. I read his decision to “pull on that thread” after Natasha’s plea that he ask Sharon out as a deliberate decision not to – choosing an explicitly dangerous (possibly fatal) path over the chance at a more normal life. I don’t understand how they plan on spinning anything from Cap 2 into a relationship without running into the same problem the comics do (they absolutely don’t work and the narrative continues to blind itself to how badly it serves both characters). It’s especially odd given the continuing presence of Peggy in the MCU – like, I genuinely believe the only reason her relationship to Peggy in the comics is tolerated/accepted is because it’s so ingrained into the canon at this point, but there is a massive difference between comic fans and the average film going audience. I can’t imagine trying to make that relationship work for your average viewer in a way that doesn’t come across as deeply uncomfortable, even if they can’t articulate why. It might have slipped by if Peggy hadn’t appeared again after Cap 1, but she’s literally been in every film Steve has, in some form or other (to say nothing of her own show) – a relationship between Steve and Sharon is really going to come across as Steve projecting.
My hope is still that they’ll learn from the extreme backlash against Bruce/Natasha - particularly the “it came out of nowhere” argument, as I suspect a similar complaint would be lodged against Steve/Sharon. She seemed to have been set up to have a real role in Cap 3 (being moved into the CIA); I don’t think she’ll play the same role in Civil War that she did in the comics (I still worry/wonder if they’ll give the shot to Natasha), but I could see her, say, playing a role in helping Steve with Bucky, particularly if he’s incarcerated at any point a la Trial of Captain America. That could at least set up a connection between them, though I still struggle to see how they’d even find space for a “relationship” as per Chris Evans’ comment. Of course, none of that solves the creepiness factor.
Unless they continue to just completely deflect her full name and identity entirely like they did in Cap 2. Awkward, though. It’d be so much easier to just….not. Steve’s probably the easiest character to not have a love interest for, given how much is going on in his narrative already – I don’t think *anyone* left Winter Soldier going, “yeah, but you know what that needed was a love interest!”

Seriously Russos: DO. NOT. DO. IT. Comics Sharon and Steve are problematic as hell, uninteresting and, frankly, just kinda sad. And not sad in the way fandom likes. Not angsty sad. Like pathetic sad. When I first got into Cap as a character, the first book I read was Winter Soldier. I thought the Steve/Sharon was bad and uncomfortable *then* and that book opens at Peggy’s funeral. We don’t even know her (though it has a flashback story later on in the book) and it’s weird.
Now imagine Sharon/Steve in the MCU, where Steve/Peggy are portrayed as soulmates who live their lives in parallels to each other 70 years apart and grieve and pine for each other across time, 3 movies, a short and a TV show. Chris and Hayley have mad chemistry that nearly set The First Avenger on fire with their eye-fucking. Where Peggy is STILL ALIVE. Sharon/Steve will go from a “meh/ugh” ship to a NOOOOOOOOOO!tp real quick.
