idk how to go about this tbh, but i figured i can throw it out into the tumblrverse and see what happens...

if anyone needs a beta, hmu. like, i'm a college drop out but i was always the person my sibling or friends sent their (important) essays or letters or resumes to, so i could proofread and edit them.

and there are so many good (fexi) fics on ao3 right now, that i know i could never write because my brain/imagination just doesn't work that way, and they're so good!! but i feel like the typos and sentence fragments have spotlights on them, and i would be so, so happy to read and send back edits to someone, but i have no clue how to go about doing this so.....

hmu if you want someone to read your stuff and help you out. i swear, i use capitals when i'm actually writing legit stuff for work. kthnxbai.

did anyone ever tell the Backstreet Boys why

My FAVORITE quote, of all time, is from the like, 2008 VH1 Top 50 Best Boy Band Songs special when AJ was commentating this song’s #1 win and he said, “I’ve never understood this song. WHAT WAY do I want it? And why DON’T I want it that way if SHE wants it that way? What’s the way? This song makes no sense. But man, they paid me to sing it.”

He was so distressed about his confusion, and I loved it. I love this song. It is truly the song of all time.

The songwriter, Max Martin, has written or contributed to the lyrics for a huge number of pop hits since the 90s. Max Martin is Swedish, and English is not his first language, a fact which feels incredibly obvious once you know it.

It’s not my intention to mock him for this–his English is miles ahead of my Swedish!–but this sincere vagueness and novel interpretations of English grammar are a noticeable quirks of his songs, especially his earlier work, so much so that trying to tease apart the individual words and phrases of the songs is a task designed for a Greek tragedy. His songs are the aursl embodiment of “no thoughts just vibes.”

Citation: Slate’s 2014 article/highlight reel of some of Martin’s most baffling lyrical Decisions:

They don’t bring it up in that article, but Martin is also responsible for Britney Spears’s “…One More Time,” and I’m sorry to anyone in whom something was awakened with those lyrics, but our good friend Max thought “hit me” was contemporary American slang for “call me.”

I feel like this adds a thin, waxy coating of surrealism in a genre whose worst examples can lean hard toward bland vapidity, and I love that Backstreet Boys lyrics are still making people question their sanity 25 years on. But mostly I can’t get over the thought of all of these singers–many of them already really big before they worked with Martin–puzzling their way through these lyrics enough to figure out how to sell the shit out of them.

“hit me up” the phrase he was probably thinking of was “hit me up”.

Out of curiosity and also guilt over my own coffee intake. I wanna ask:

Now I'm not talking about when you're studying and so you drink 3x the usual amount or something like that. This isn't me asking what your record is. I'm talking about the most basic, average day, how many coffees you drink?

2-3.

one in the morning.

maybe one mid afternoon.

definitely one when i get home from work.

"Alisha Weir and the wider cast of the new film 'Abigail' have paid tribute to their co-star Angus Cloud, the Irish American actor who passed away just weeks after filming wrapped.

'Every single cast member was so incredible, and Angus brought so much joy to the set,' Dublin native Weir, 14, told the PA last night, April 17, at the Los Angeles premiere of 'Abigail,' in which she stars.

'Every single day he would make everybody smile and I’m so so honoured and so grateful, not just to have worked with him, but to have known such a beautiful person who is so amazing and beautiful inside and out.

'He shared that with every single person on the cast.'

Cloud, whose father was from Co Meath, died on July 31 at the age of 25. The Alameda County Coroner later said he died of acute intoxication following an accidental overdose.

Full name is Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, the actor previously said that he was preparing to move to Ireland before he was scouted to feature as Fezco in HBO's hit series 'Euphoria.'

In 'Abigail,' Cloud plays a kidnapper, appearing alongside 'Scream' star Melissa Barrera, 'Downton Abbey's' Dan Stevens, 'Big Little Lies' actress Kathryn Newton, and 'X-Men' star Kevin Durand.

Speaking on the red carpet on Wednesday evening, Stevens described Cloud as 'unique,' adding that he had never met anyone like him.

'He was like all of our little brothers on set, and we loved him very much, and we miss him very much,' Stevens said.

Stevens added that 'Abigail,' which was filmed in Ireland, features a tribute to Cloud at the end of the movie.

'I love that this film has a tribute to him at the end, and he would have loved this; he would’ve laughed his arse off,' Stevens told reporters.

Durand, meanwhile, said everyone spoke of 'how good they felt' when they talked to Cloud on set.

'It was just so nice to meet someone who was just so real,' Durand said on Wednesday.

'He wasn’t concerned with being famous; he wanted to be a good person. We all loved him very much and are all very proud of what he did in this film. I hope he's really happy with is.'

What makes my heart flutter about this scene is that Peeta doesn't care that he just died. He cares that Katniss cares that he just died. He's husband material-ing all over the place.

And the fact that in the books HE starts worrying for HER???????

That is a H U S B A N D

“You were dead! Your heart stopped!” I burst out, before really considering if this is a good idea. I clap my hand over my mouth because I'm starting to make those awful choking sounds that happen when I sob.

“Well, it seems to be working now,” he says. “It's all right, Katniss.” I nod my head but the sounds aren't stopping.

“Katniss?” Now Peeta's worried about me, which adds to the insanity of it all.

Peeta’s desire to respect Katniss’s (alleged) platonic boundaries is constantly at war with his “that’s my WIFE” complex. It doesn’t help that she’s not denying it. If anything, she’s supporting it.

aiight so i've been obsessing thinking about fictional character crushes for a minute now, because tbh i don't like this lusty obsessive hyperfixation bc it just gives me this weird desperate sad longing feeling in my gut (i think it's knowing that 1. this crush is not going anywhere, ever, for multiple reasons, and 2. namely the fact that they are not real) that i'd rather not feel.

anyways.

i figured it out what sets it off, and the three big ones (spike, peeta mellark & eddie qavvik) all give their love interests this one look at some point. it's this look that conveys adoration, and love, and not really asking for anything in return (at least not in that moment) and it just gets me like 😳😤🤩😍
