Thank you dear one. I hope the finished product is as good as the first scene. I've never written anything like this before so it's both terrifying and exhilarating. If it doesn't end up as a dumpster fire, I'll consider it a win!

Because I haven’t posted any writing in a while, and because I absolutely ADORE this paragraph I wrote for my merlin is an umbrella and Charlie is a floral-print bag Mary Poppins AU, I thought I’d share it as a little bit of a teaser.  And maybe as a way of begging all you lovelies for some encouragement to actually finish this monstrosity.

Harry sighed and looked up as if searching for patience.  “The two of you will put me in an early grave, I’m sure of it.”  He looked down at Merlin-the-surly-umbrella.  “Behave you.  If you kill me who will scour all the the thrift shops in London for,” he paused to grimace slightly, “frightfully unattractive floral bags to keep you company?”

I have had the worst month ever you guys.  There has been crazy shit at work with my boss quitting and a new guy taking over.  There was some extreme weather that knocked out our power for like 5 days, followed by flooding in my area which stranded me in the city I work in for almost a week where I had to stay in a hotel rather than drive home.  Then I had to drive back to my hometown in the next state for a death in the family.  And finally all this stress got to me and i ended up in the hospital with a severe rash and and irregular heartbeat.  

So what I’m trying to say is, tumblr was kind of on the bottom of the to-do list for me for a while, but I hope that’s all behind me and I should be around more.  Now, what did I miss?

Remember that story I posted that one time with the fucking machine?  It has a little notfic sequel now for anyone interested.  Yay for aftercare and burnt breakfasts.

What is your dream of/for (Describe as detailed as you want)

1.  Your mate

This is going to sound like a cop-out, but pretty much what I have.  I’ve been married to my husband for almost 13 years now and it works because we get each other.  Relationships with Asperger’s are weird (at least that’s what they tell me, and it has also been my experience) and I never actually wanted to be in a relationship.  But he puts up with all my shit, I don’t mind putting up with his, and most of the time he makes me happy.  I don’t know what else I could realistically ask for.

3.  Head to toe clothing including hairstyle and accessories

When I dress up, I do vintage.  I have a really cute 50’s style dress that’s baby blue with polka dots.  I’m looking for a great pair of vintage or vintage-inspired heels to go with it, but it’s hard since my foot is so small.  Accessories wise, it’d be very minimal, probably just my grandmother’s pearls.  Hair would be a fingerwave and probably orange, yellow and purple; those have always been my favorite hair colors on me.  I’d probably do my makeup vintage-inspired but with some wild colors or something to give it a little edge.

4.  Home

Something near the water and not too big.  I like old houses, something with some character.

I really wish I could afford to be unemployed again.  I didn’t work for 8 months and it was the greatest 8 months of my life.

6.  What 1 wish you really want to come true?

I wish my husband’s parents would get their heads out asses and learn how to manage their money so that we don’t have to take care of them when his dad can’t work anymore.

9.  1 precious memory you don’t mind sharing

When my husband I were still dating, he said he was thinking about proposing to me, but he was unsure how I would react to that for a variety of reasons, so (I found out later) he did the following to kind of test the waters with me.  He told me he had a surprise for me, and to hold out my hands and close my eyes.  When I open them, there’s a gigantic acorn sitting in my hands.  So, of course, I’m thinking, “what the fuck?” and that’s when he says, “That acorn represents our relationship now, and I hope it grows into a beautiful tree.”  I still think of that moment as his proposal, more than the one where he actually gave me the ring, because that’s the moment I decided to spend the rest of my life with him.

10.  1 thing you had had with you for a long time, why?

My grandfather’s chair.  I was really close to my grandfather, and he had this chair that he used to always sit in, especially when me and my cousin visited because it was kind of wide and we could both sit with him at the same time.  I have so many memories of crawling up on his lap in that chair and reading or talking or watching tv.  Just about every picture taken with him at their house was in that chair.  When he died my grandmother was planning to get rid of it and I took it.  I’ve moved 4 times since then and even though it’s incredibly ugly and matches none of our other furniture and it mostly gets used as a cat bed, I’ve taken it with me every time.

11.  Favourite love story that you have thought of.

I’ve had a story in my brain for a while now that if I find the right characters to use, I will eventually write.  I may even decide to do it with original characters.  The basic premise is this:  Character A is a prince, but he’s the ninth child, and he has older brothers who will be heirs and manage all the family’s affairs, so from birth there was never any doubt that his only purpose was to be married off to the most advantageous suitor.  His father is terribly abusive and neglectful and he’s isolated from most of the house and touch-starved to make him a more desireable boy-bride.  Growing up, all he ever wanted was to be the best wife possible to his husband.  He studies the other cultures of the surrounding kingdoms, learns as many languages as he can, and studies diplomacy because he knows it often falls to the wife to charm visitors before negotiations.

Character B is a prince from a neighboring enemy kingdom and he’s the most skilled fighter in the entire kingdom.  He leads a scout team for his father’s army, a small group of soldiers with other very special skills, that are often sent not only to scout ahead, but to complete very dangerous covert missions in enemy territory.  He has no interest in a relationship.  He’s seen the way it wears on other men under his command while on long, treacherous missions, and he hates having to inform widows of their husband’s deaths.  He never wants anyone to have to deliver that message on his behalf.

A treaty is proposed to end the war between the two kingdoms and B is the only unmarried son in his family.  He’s not happy but he knows accepting this marriage to A is the best way to serve his people.

Question...

I’m creeping up near 100 followers and I want to do something for you guys.  But I don’t know what since I figure the only thing you’d want is fic and I already take requests, so...

Anybody got any ideas?

Merlin hates these things--parties full of important people in expensive clothes talking about absolutely nothing of substance--he’s just here to get the USB from his source to prove there really is something shady going on with Minister Hesketh. A task made infinitely more difficult by his son following him around like a trained puppy.

Charlie’s just trying to please his father, he thinks it will be easy to charm this harmless-looking Merlin fellow and find out who he really works for like his father requested. He’s not expected to be blown off--repeatedly.

Angry and desperate not to fail, Charlie follows Merlin to a private room. When Charlie confronts him, they’re both surprised by how determined Charlie is to please--and how much Merlin likes it.
