New zine out now: Ant Dodger.

12 pages. 11X17” newspaper. The first 8 pages are poems by Bill Knott (1940-2014) with drawings by me, with permission from Knott’s estate. The last 4 pages are a new comic by me. My comic isn’t about Knott. I just put it at the end of this zine. Knott’s poems are funny and dark and touching. Black Ocean (they co-published my last Salamun zine with me) are rereleasing Knott’s first book The Naomi Poems later this year. Richard Hell wrote a great piece on Knott– google to find that.

How to get this zine:

If you are a subscriber to Hype Pup, don’t worry, you will get one. You’re safe.

Other people…

If you really want one, order it from the Copacetic website right now. Shipping brings it to 5 dollars. https://copaceticcomics.com/comics/ant-dodger

Otherwise, I will have a stack of them at:

Bubbles Con, May 4th, Richmond Virginia Main Public Library. 9:30-5pm. A free day of interviews and talks about comics and manga. My panel is at noon but Ant Dodgers will be out on a table all day, while supplies last.

Some were sent as freebies to some shops, but those are probably gone already. (Except I heard the ones at Book Thug Nation, Brooklyn, just appeared.)

Richmonders, don’t forget these other events are also happening soon:

April 28th, Sunday, Richmond Animation Festival at the Byrd theater. 5:30 Shorts program, 7:30 Robert Beatty special guest. $10 gets you into both.

May 8th, Wednesday, Wheel of Fortune + HS Sinking + a Q&A with me at the ICA. It will be nice to see HS Sinking on the big & close ICA screen. Will probably make some people sea sick! 7pm. Free.

I got a comp copy of the book written about me! Greg Hunter wrote this, published in the “Critical Cartoons” line from Uncivilized Books. It was long delayed, due to world chaos, but is finally out on March 21st. It’s a critical survey of my comics work. I’m probably not supposed to have read it, but I read it. I really appreciate this. I’m grateful. Hunter breaks down each of my books and there’s plenty of excerpts, including three of my best (previously out-of-print) comic short stories in full. Order at https://uncivilizedbooks.com/new-realities-the-comics-of-dash-shaw/
