Musical Instrument: Erhu (二胡)
A two-stringed bowed musical instrument, sometimes called the “Chinese Violin.” The Erhu is a versatile instrument that is used in both traditional and contemporary music arrangements. The Erhu is ideal for expressing many emotions and the sounds it produced allows the listener to experience beauty, sadness, pain, and happiness. It easily mimics weeping, sighs, and intimate chatter and can produce sounds of nature if under skillful hands. Delicate like silk, but yet leaves a lasting haunting melody in any listener’s mind.
