Hey everyone~

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve had some troubles waking my muse up so for the time being I will be on hiatus-- perhaps he’ll wake up again one day, who knows.

However, I am over at another blog and it’s oc friendly (wink wink) so if you still want to write with me, interact and send memes then give me a follow over there. There’s a lot of you who have been by my side since 2014 and I would love to have you around again <3

But for the time being I’m going to say thank you to everyone for these amazing years and here’s to hoping that I’ll return one day!

Kili’s confidence in the king’s approval surprised the half-elf, though then again he had never met the man, so his assumptions had really not been any more than that - assumptions. Mentally, he had already started to prepare himself for the speech he might need to give in order to defend his good intentions in front of the court. His friends would have certainly posed the smaller problem.
“Oh, don’t you worry about them.” Lux waved off with his free hand before lifting his drink to his mouth with the other.
“We love ourselves some new company, and Pun will appreciate the chance to fix your first impression of him. Given your people’s history, it really wasn’t so surprising. I mean.. you would not find me rejoice when entering a sun elven village either.” And with that uncomfortable truth suddenly hovering in the air between them, he downed the rest of his mug in one go.

Sun elves?

That simple admission brought forth countless of questions in the dwarf’s mind; what were sun elves? Where did they live? How did their races differ? What happened? But clearly the topic was an unpleasant one if the way Lux downed the entire drink the very next second was any indication, so he swallowed his curiosity with great difficulty.

Perhaps he could ask about it some other day.

“Then I’ll gladly accept your offer for both the work and the opportunity to make it up for your friend; I’d hate for there to be bad blood between us because of what happened,” the dwarf grinned lifting his mug in a toast before bringing it to his lips. Yet he only rested the wooden surface against his chin, a curious look shining in his eyes.

“Should we order you another one? Despite the very eventful past hour, the night is still young.”

feelings | bilbo & kili

[ cont from here with @murkhith ]
Bilbo chuckled, glad he could give a few laughs out of Kili given his previous mood and glad that they were speaking rather hopefully about the coming days. Things seemed too bleak for too long.
“I hope so. Thorin is very… burdened.” Bilbo took a moment to search for the right word. “I don’t think it’s just you and your brother he puts so much pressure on… Once Erebor is safe again, I’m sure better moods will be drawn out more easily. For everyone. Having a safe, comfortable home does let one’s mind rest…”
Of course Bilbo missed his own home and people, even. The normalcy of it. But he would very much miss these disruptive dwarves once he went home… Of course he would want them to visit and would make a point to say so when he did leave. Maybe he would even return again himself. He couldn’t imagine Thorin or even Fili and Kili abandoning their posts just to visit him.

“It’ll be a huge change for sure,” the brunette agreed tipping his head back further, gaze fixed on the passing clouds above them. “Moving from a small village inside the stone; a kingdom we once lost... so many things will change.”

No longer would he be considered only Thorin’s nephew, a mischievous troublemaker alongside his brother; he’d be a prince. It meant more lessons and more pressure on his shoulders, more studies about the lands around their own. It meant he couldn’t just act on a whim anymore because he was supposed to set an example to the other dwarves; even if he wasn’t a heir like Fili, he still had to behave properly.

“It’s... terrifying,” Kili admitted with a shaky exhale, restless fingers combing through the tangled locks of hair. “What if I am molded into something I am not? If my role becomes a prison, and I no longer recognize who I am?”

the taken

it was a rough ride over and you have the scrapes to show for it. they ripped you from your bedroom and locked you up in the highest tower. you never felt like yourself at home, but you were loved. whenever you vanish, they stay out all season looking for you.

but what does that matter to you now?

for now, you have altitude sickness. for now, all the stone walls are closing in. for now, you can feel the heat of its breath right above your spire. friendless and bored is the worst thing for you to be. when this is all over, they’ll tell stories about your rescue. but nobody ever asks what those long months in shackles felt like for you. hang in there, jailbird! your knight will come eventually!

Hey guys.

A lot has happened in a super short time but have a recap; I left a bad relationship and moved on my own, and my anxiety got bad enough to send me to the hospital twice because we thought something was very wrong with me physically. I’m doing a bit better now, but I’m still settling in my new place and I’m fucking exhausted most of the days yet I’m hoping to get back soon. If my replies are shorter or come later than usually, I’m sorry but thank you for your patience and understanding <3

Bilbo laughed a bit at the thought of Thorin the great King being scolded by his sister, even cowed by her. He smiled to Kili, glad to be of use. It was too often he felt like a burden to the others. He was not very strong and certainly not as used to travel or being away from home. His fighting experience was trial by fire, kill or be killed. Why ever Gandalf had thought him the person for such a job… well, he was glad of it now, he had to admit.
“I think I should very much like to meet your mother.” Bilbo said knowingly, joking himself, but only partly. “Anyone who can give Thorin a run is worth meeting.”
image
“I’m sure you would get along swimmingly,” Kili smiled in response, his whole posture more relaxed and at ease than it had been mere minutes ago. “She automatically likes anyone who would stand up to Thorin and let me tell you; those people are far and in between. You won’t let the king of dwarves step all over you, I’m sure she’ll manage to talk you into quite a bit of scheming against him,” he continued, an amused grin tugging at his lips.

“Who knows, maybe you’ll manage to get him to take actual breaks once we have our home back.”

He could see that happening; and maybe with Dis’ help Bilbo would come more out of his shell as well.

She had that kind of effect on people.

“Maybe”, Lux gave back with a crooked smile to keep up the mock suspense.
“If he can make himself useful. We can always use an extra pair of hands. Towels need to be washed, dishes have to be done, guests to be served, errants to be run, tubs to be cleaned, yurts to be set up, repaired and packed up again… he would never find himself bored.”
Perhaps it was foolish of him to make such promises without prior consultation of his friends. While he did not expect any of them to reject the idea of a temporary addition to their team, it would have been the only sensible thing to do. Then again, Lux found himself in much too high of spirits to worry about such techniqualities tonight. Anything to wipe that earlier unpleasant encounter from his mind.
“Only thing I wonder…”, he hummed after another sip from his drink, “…would the king trust a colourful band of travelling folks like us to take in a precious successor of his line?”

Commoner work, that’s what he would be doing.

And it sounded like the most wonderful way to spend to spend his days while finally traveling around the lands like he had longed for. The mere thought of switching long lessons, visits at the mines and meetings that would last for hours to washing towels, socializing with different people and catering for other peoples needs instead of being fawned over because of his title sounded absolutely perfect and refreshing.

“Trust me, I can learn any job you’ll throw at me,” Kili grinned, the excitement making his heart flutter and he flagged over two more tankards for them. “As for the king, I’m sure he’ll see how beneficial this is for everyone and I’m positive he’s happy that I would be traveling with other people instead of embarking on the journey on my own.”

Especially after what had happened that night.

“Sure, he won’t be jumping with joy but he also knows that one day I’d find a way to leave anyway; to him, this would be the safest option.”

The dwarf rested his elbow against the table, blowing a stray curl from his face.

“However, are you sure it would be alright with the rest of your company? My start with one of your people was a bit rocky at best,” he pointed out with a small wince. To be fair, he hadn’t expected to meet a dragon person when he had stepped into that tent but that didn’t excuse his wary behavior.

“Baggins,” Bilbo corrected swiftly but doubted it was heard or if Kili was mispronouncing his name just to tease him. Which he wouldn’t have minded, really. He was rather found of all the dwarves, of course, these long months hence. Bofur, Kili and Fili in particular, always looking to lighten everyone’s spirits. Thorin was much more of a mystery, but it was hard not to be taken by the King Under The Mountain. He could see why Kili felt… maybe intimidated by his own role in all of this.
“Gandalf told me that I might not come back from this journey… That’s what made me stay, before. That’s the real reason why I was late to join all of you. I was afraid, to put it simply.” Bilbo sighed a little, not ashamed of his confession now, as he’d long since proven himself to be a rather different hobbit than he was worrying over his handkerchiefs in the late spring.
“You were nearly lost in Laketown. Did you not think your uncle was afraid then?” Bilbo spoke quickly, because he knew how things looked then. But he was sure he knew Thorin’s character. As stubborn as he was.
“Now– I know we left you behind… But, yes, I believe he was frightened for you. Of loosing you for good, of… having to confront your mother about failing to keep you safe.”

Honestly, he hadn’t even entertained that possibility but now that the words hung in the air, he knew them to be true. Hadn’t there been a gentle look of resignation in Thorin’s eyes when he had told him to stay and recover in Laketown? He had thought Thorin had made his decision so he wouldn’t be a burden on the company, bu perhaps the truth was more simple.

Thorin had worried for his safety.

His mind had been clouded by his own doubt and the pain of the poison he hadn’t even thought about the fact that they were a family, and family always came first.

“I mean... my mother can be a force to recon with so I can’t blame him from being worried,” Kili finally spoke, yet the tiny smile on his lips told he merely jested the hobbit.

“Your words hold a truth I was too blind to see. Thank you, Bilbo.”

Avatar
Bilbo chuckled softly and shook his head, “Oh, believe me, hobbits can be just as stubborn. And prideful.” He smiled fondly, obviously missing his home and arguments with his friends and relatives. Not all of them, but some.
“But if you ask me… it’s not that your uncle thinks you’re not capable, Kili. I think he gets cross because he knows how very capable you are. And that scares him.“
image
Image
“Scares him? My uncle?” Kili repeated with a disbelieving chuckle followed by a shake of his head. “He’s not scared of anything, mister boggins. He has faced orcs and wargs alike and a dragon-- I don’t think there’s anything that would make him terrified.”

If anything, the young dwarf felt like a liability to the company; he knew he had less experience than the rest and he tried his best to prove his worth not only to his family but to everyone present.

“I just wish I could do more.”

“Well, you can if you feel the need to… I would give you whatever advice I could offer, of course.” Bilbo smiled softly. “But sometimes just the comfort of being in the company of a friend might be enough for now.”

The tiniest of smiles appeared on Kili’s lips and he rested his elbows against his knees, then promptly dropped his head into his hands. “... It’s difficult to explain or put into words,” he finally spoke quietly, glancing over at the camp a bit further away as if making sure no one was trying to eavesdrop on their conversation.

“Feelings aren’t exactly something we speak openly about and sometimes it leads into fights; like the one you just witnessed.”

💎 - What is it that attracted you to your muse?

Avatar

When I first saw the way Kili kept looking at his uncle or brother on the background for confirmation that he did/said the right thing, I instantly knew what he felt. The difference being that I’m the oldest, but both of my siblings have gotten so far in life that I’ve envied them for a long time and wished I could be like them.

Wished to make my family proud.

That combined with the way he kept hiding his pain, not wanting to be a burden on anyone and covering it with his playful nature and smiles; not to mention the skills he clearly had in his own area of expertise just had me sold in so many ways.

Eruingil nodded in understanding. Perhaps they were concluding some lucrative trade agreement, or reporting the location of a rich new vein of ore in distant hills or mountains. Material wealth wasn’t of much interest to Rangers; if you couldn’t eat it and it didn’t turn a blade or keep you warm, it was considered utterly useless in her culture.
“I understand. But… be careful.” Her demeanor became somewhat more serious for a moment. “Especially if you’re heading east. There have been more troublemakers about than usual—orcs and wargs, mostly, but there’s been signs of trolls, too. I don’t know what’s drawn them so far south and west, but I do know they’re watching the old trade roads especially.”
All the while, she whittled away at the stick, idly shaping it into an animal form. A fluffy tail, four paws, the long snout and upright ears of a wolf. But it had a friendly expression, as opposed to the hungry violence other artists might choose.
“I would send word for my folk to keep an eye on your progress, but they’re spread pretty thin… and I don’t think your company would appreciate that sort of interference, anyway,” she added with a slight smile, putting the finishing touches on her little wolf trinket before holding it out.
“Want it?”

Surprised at the present, Kili reached out and engulfed the tiny wolf in his palms. It felt smooth to touch and showed admirable craftmanship for being done in such a short time. The tiniest of smiles played on his lips, a single finger running over the trinket.

“How unintentionally fitting. My mother used to call me her ‘little wolf’,” he admitted fondly, though his attention once again snapped to her earlier words as if just registering in his mind.

“Orcs and wargs?”

The dwarf sat up straighter, a worried frown crossing his features at the news. There had been some tracks couple of days ago but he hadn’t thought they would have come this far. This definitely made everything harder; they had barely managed to get away the last time.

This time, they didn’t have Gandalf and the eagles watching over them.

“Yeah no, having someone watch us is definitely the worst idea you could offer,” he laughed with a shake of his head. “We’re secretive for a reason; if someone were to be caught watching us, I’m afraid the company leader would not let them walk away. For their safety, keep this meeting between us.”
