everything in this world is more impressive and inspiring when it has more effort put into it. that's the soul of the thing. even if it could be done easier, or faster, someone spending time and thought on anything they do is part of being human

that's why corporate executives aren't human, because they want computer automation to circumvent the effort part of every process, meanwhile actual artists are like, let's hand-animate a claymation video game. let's draw a landscape using tools nobody could think of. let's do something everyone takes for granted by hand and spend years on it.

effort is how we show people our souls. if you think it's better to automate that part out you are not real

a development team that looks like this could not possibly have any preconceived biases against Black people. noooo way. its just a mistake that all of the Black people in fo4 are slaves or named after fascist colonizers or murdered or stereotypical conspiracy freaks. there is no way that the reality of this team is reflected in the art they create over and over and over and over and over and over and

[ID 1: A photo of the Fallout 4 development team taken from above and forward, showing a large crowd smiling at the camera, made up apparently entirely by white people, and almost entirely by white men. End ID.]

Here's the interview screenshot I post at every opportunity

They brag about having maintained the same team with no outside influences since Fallout 3. They have decided on their in-group and they consciously protect it from new points of view.

Todd Howard actually thinks that his team of entirely white, near entirely male devs represents a healthy environment for storytelling and insists they have as many debates and opinions as they could need. I think the insistence on maintaining a core team who do not challenge each other or present any meaningful questions, who do not come from diverse backgrounds, is actually vulgar, and he literally cannot comprehend that.

thinking more about authorial insecurity in fiction... it truly is frustrating to me when an author is clearly ashamed of their own premises, or is preemptively responding to imagined criticism. this is where you get a lot of unfunny humor about how stupid genre conventions are and how Unrealistic fantastical/speculative elements are. like ultimately the reason that authors undercut and overexplain their own works is because they're insecure about audience reaction and want to get ahead of the haters by proclaiming that they're Not Cringe. this will not work because I, the ultimate hater, will eventually find them and make one million posts about how much I despise irony poisoning

Venti having to routinely gently argue with the people of Mondstadt whenever they try to pay tribute to Barbados’s “spirit of freedom” in a way that contradicts with Venti’s actual ideal of freedom is so unbelievably funny. He’s like. I love you all. I’m glad you’re passionate about this. But your church of worship is creating some very interesting fanon mischaracterization about Barbados here. He would not say that

Venti when the nuns in the church get too into their parasocial relationship with him
