I made a shirt.

Lol it's just two rectangles sewn together.

This is my first time (that I can remember) using chenille yarn.

Like pretty much all the yarn I own, I picked it up second hand; this time from Goodwill. Got 4 skeins of the same yarn and they all had sleeves/labels . A rare opportunity so I had to grab them.

Decided to experiment. I wasn't sure if the fabric I was working up would be wide enough or long enough but hey, f*ck around and find out I guess.

I used a large gauge, 41 peg loom.

Only used 40.

Slip stitch the end pegs. E wrap seed stitch the rest.

Just worked away at the yarn, using 2 skeins for each rectangle.

Sewed the side seams and shoulder seams.

And done. New shirt acquired.

It's cozy.

A bit short but crop sweaters are in style right?

(Sidenote: I finished this last night and my husband wasn't aware I was making it.

I was wearing it today when I opened the door to welcome him home from work...then we sat together at the table...then chatted...he hadn't noticed...at allllllll....

"honey, i made a new top."

"oh?" He looks around then down at the shirt I'm actually wearing right in front of him. "Oh! It looks good."

Made this giant monstrosity years ago out of various shades of black, white, and red yarn that I had thrifted.

I made it on a 41 peg large gauge knitting loom; held 2 strands together, worked e wrap seed stitch, no slip stitching, across 40 pegs.

(Been frickin freezing in the Midwest)

I'm in the middle of a bunch of loom knitting projects and what do I do? Start another one of course.

I carved a pumpkin with a Dremel tool for the first time. It was messy 😆

The tool we have is cheap and the discs didn't cut all the way thru but a big knife helped finish up the cuts.

I think it's pretty good for a first attempt.

I was covered in a fine pumpkin mist and orange slime 😆

I've loom knitted a few cardigans and wearables recently and someone asked how much I'd sell one for... I ducked the question cuz idfk.

I didn't time myself while making the thing.

99% of my yarn is second hand so it's a lot of partial skeins and/or yarn without labels so I have no clue how many yards went into it.

So what to do?

I guess I'll dig out the few full skeins I do have, with labels(wooo).

I guess I'll use the stop watch function on my phone every time I pick up my loom. (yay.)

Maybe then I'll have an estimate for the next person that asks for prices. 🤷

I imagine it'll be an obnoxious price. At this point I'm estimating it'll be about 50 hours to complete.

And the cost of yarn is a constantly adjusting variable.

I use thrifted, basic bitch, dead granny's estate sale yarn. I'm not picky cuz I can't afford to be.

But jo schmo ordering a custom cardigan might want pure alpaca wool. Idk how expensive that is.

See, an adjustable variable. An annoying adjustable variable.

On top of this tracking and planning to figure out pricing...it now feels like a chore.

I've started a cardigan and the stop watch is making me nervous. The yarn I'm using is a DK weight but I usually use worsted weight; is that going to fuck up the yard count?

Man, this sucks the fun outta it.

*sigh* I'm keeping notes on my phone.

Maybe I can do it lil by lil...

And just bounce to a project that feels more fun.

If anyone has advice on this stuff, let me know. I'm a novice with this side of fiber works. The sad business side. I just wanna make stuff.

I made a sweater and a hoodie!

I loom knit and did all this on 3/8 gauge looms.

Finished the hoodie a while ago but the pumpkin blew past my first couple of deadlines. Made it just in time for the Halloween parade.

Also, that's a pretty flower I saw today.

Wow, I haven't posted here in nearly a year... what'd I miss?
