Dancing Through Life: One muse drags the other to a bar or party.
Holiday parties… Who on Earth has time for such festivities?
Invitations upon invitations lay on Diana’s table. Appearances, fancy parties and charity events all wrapped up in ribbons, written in gold glitter and never lacking red and green.
Despite all of this, the one that catches her interest the most is one lacking luster. Black, neat writing on a white card. It’s for the Justice League Watchtower’s annual holiday party. This year there are going to be a lot of new faces.
In short, the moon base feels less welcoming despite the fact that she is considered a founding member of the team. She has to divide her time between the Justice League and ambassador duties to the UN because her need to fight crime is as huge as her need to keep peace in troublesome times.
It seems that the one thing you procrastinate the most tends to be the thing that happens the fastest. Weeks tick by quickly and it’s the night of the Watchtower’s holiday party.
Diana is keeping watch in the monitor womb. The only other person in the room is J'onn. “Are you thinking of going to the party this evening?”
Without breaking pace in what he’s doing, he gives a small shrug. “I hadn't thought of it.”
Although both of them would be replaced in only a short time after keeping watch for a few hours, J’onn didn’t really consider the party in his future plans.
Diana is silent for a moment until she gets an idea. She considers the Martian to be one of her friends. Perhaps inviting him along to the party would soften the blow of all the people she doesn’t really know beyond a name and a face.
"Would you like to go?" The princess perks up. "I can't imagine you weren't of the first to receive an invitation."
It doesn't take him all that much convincing to join her and she promises they will leave immediately if it's anything boring or simply too much.
The party has already begun by the time they make it there and even though they arrived together, various people want to speak to them or meet them and they find themselves pulled in opposite directions.
It's only when she notices J'onn by himself once again and she decides to join him. The princess barely makes it to him when she notices a fancy drink in someone's hand. It has an Oreo on the edge of the glass.
"Excuse me. What is that and where can I find it?" It isn't a secret to her that J'onn has a weakness for Oreos.
Once satisfied with the answer, she leaves without an explanation and returns to J'onn with two of what happen to be a Double Stuf Oreo Martinis. He takes the drink and thanks her.
"I suppose this is thanks for allowing me to drag you out tonight after a long day of work." She raises her glass before taking a sip, pleased to find out that it does taste wonderfully like Oreos.
Dessert inspired martinis are a double edged sword. The bad side is that you can't really taste the alcohol and it doesn't occur to you to stop drinking after a couple. The good side is that there are pictures from the holiday party circulating among members of the Justice League with Diana in a Santa hat and J'onn wearing Wonder Woman's tiara.
