The last time I saw this on my dash, I didn’t think it would happen, so jokingly I wished I could go to a fun. concert.

is it time for frank cho and milo manara to die or what

That’s basically a naked woman I’m YELLING

What a pervert. What the FUCK does he not know how clothes work? What the hypothetical fuck is she wearing then if we can see all that?

It’s like how bath towels in comics miraculously wrap completely around breasts. Or how even when injured and dead on the ground women in comics have to be twisted into “sexy” poses. Or how women in comics walk like they’re in high heels even barefoot.

image

It’s the only way men know how to draw women, because to them female characters are only there to be sexy. They only think of “women” as exploitative costumes and camera angles, high heels and titillation. Sex objects to ogle, plot objects to further male heroes’ narratives and drama, not heroes to cheer for.

I’m sorry, I was labouring under the impression that this was the crowd that thought women should wear what they want..?

And that applies to fictional women who are depicted by men how? You can’t apply agency in the plot to something metatextual when it comes to fictional characters.

Come on, let’s not pretend this is a male exclusive thing.

We’re going to have this argument are we? Not to mention you’re deviating from the original point that attributing agency to fictional characters’ clothing is asinine.

What you have here are images of power, and do you really believe these characters are designed with titillating heterosexual women and bisexual and homosexual men in mind? Because I don’t think you do.

This is why the Hawkeye Initiative exists. Take common female poses in comics, put a man in the role, and see how “empowering” and “strong” it actually looks:

Also:

He got the painting for fighting against ‘censorship.’ Note that they handed him a gross design of a female being objectified, because at the end of the day, that is all they really want, to be allowed to objectify women. They don’t care about censorship in general it is about their ability to sexualise and degrade women without consequence.

You can see her butthole for chrissakes

I think the best imagery I’ve seen to explain the difference between what men think male objectification is vs what women actually want to see is the Hugh Jackman magazine covers.

Image

Hugh Jackman on a men’s magazine. He’s shirtless and buff and angry. He’s imposing and aggressive. This is a male power fantasy, it’s what men want to be and aspire to - intense masculinity.

Hugh Jackman on a women’s magazine.  He looks like a dad. He looks like he’s going to bake me a quiche and sit and watch Game of Thrones with me. He looks like he gives really good hugs.

Men think women want big hulking naked men in loin cloths which is why they always quote He-Man as male objectification - without realizing that He Man is naked and buff in a loin cloth because MEN WANT HIM TO BE. More women would be happy to see him in a pink apron cutting vegetables and singing off-key to 70s rock.

Men want objects. Women want PEOPLE.

This is the first time I have EVER seen this false equivalence articulated so well. Thank you.

“i didn’t raise you like this”.

you’re right you raised me to flinch, to grovel, to cry quietly, to mask pain, to swallow my words, to take rage out on myself. you raised me to cower, to respect authority without any reason, to live with your words riding in me.

you raised me wrong. i’m just reteaching myself how to be right. i’m sorry that doesn’t look like what you wanted it to. but i’m learning to love myself in the way parents were supposed to do.

Trump has ordered the Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke to review 27 National Monuments designated by the Antiquities Act over the past 21 years to look for “abuses” of the act.

As part of that process, the public is being invited to weigh in on the review as a whole via written comments or an online portal. The White House is calling it the “first ever formal public comment period for members of the public to officially weigh in on monument designations under the Antiquities Act of 1906,” which of course ignores the years-long process of proposals, legislative efforts, and public comments that went into the vast majority of these monuments.

Y’know I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation. Got a call from the financial aid advisor telling me that they made a mistake with filing my account (or some other sort of clerical error) and said that, basically, they owe me money. Welp.

On the topic of humans being everyone’s favorite Intergalactic versions  of Gonzo the Great: Come on you guys, I’ve seen all the hilarious additions to my “humans are the friendly ones” post. We’re basically Steve Irwin meets Gonzo from the Muppets at this point. I love it.

But what if certain species of aliens have Rules for dealing with humans?

  • Don’t eat their food. If human food passes your lips/beak/membrane/other way of ingesting nutrients, you will never be satisfied with your ration bars again.
  • Don’t tell them your name. Humans can find you again once they know your name and this can be either life-saving or the absolute worst thing that could happen to you, depending on whether or not they favor you. Better to be on the safe side.
  • Winning a human’s favor will ensure that a great deal of luck is on your side, but if you anger them, they are wholly capable of wiping out everything you ever cared about. Do not anger them.
  • If you must anger them, carry a cage of X’arvizian bloodflies with you, for they resemble Earth mo-skee-toes and the human will avoid them.
  • This does not always work. Have a last will and testament ready.
  • Do not let them take you anywhere on your planet that you cannot fly a ship from. Beings who are spirited away to the human kingdom of Aria Fiv-Ti Won rarely return, and those that do are never quite the same.

Basically, humans are like the Fair Folk to some aliens and half of them are scared to death and the others are like alien teenagers who are like “I dare you to ask a human to take you to Earth”.

We knew about the planet called Earth for centuries before we made contact with its indigenous species, of course. We spent decades studying them from afar.

The first researchers had to fight for years to even get a grant, of course. They kept getting laughed out of the halls. A T-Class Death World that had not only produced sapient life, but a Stage Two civilization? It was a joke, obviously. It had to be a joke.

And then it wasn’t. And we all stopped laughing. Instead, we got very, very nervous.

Polish fishermen have caught an old, huge wels catfish, which had eaten a bit of an SS soldier in the 1940s.

O.O

And by “a bit” I mean his head and a bit of his upper torso, since a fragmented skull, two buttons and the insignia were found inside the gigantic fish.

o.O

How does one even…? Brrr!

thank you so much for thinking of me when you see a post about a nazi eating sea monster. :3 this has made my day. bless

If you don’t feel like reading the article, please know that this is one of the oldest wels catfish ever caught–they usually live to be about 60, and this one was between 90 and 110 years old.

Also, I don’t know much about fish but HOLY SHIT THIS FISH IS SO BIG

I WAS LIKE “WTF HOW CAN A FISH JUST EAT A PERSON” AND THEN I SAW HOW BIG THIS FISH WAS AND I UNDERSTOOD

This fish is 187 kg which is a little over 412 lbs and I am so proud of it for eating a Nazi and being so big and strong and old I’m a little emotional rn

I am so proud of this Nazi-eating fish and I think we should make an exception to kashrut laws so that it can be turned into gefilte so that we may digest its anti-SS powers.

Ok, can I throw in a weird .02 that I noticed after deciding to sift through this person’s blog to try to get a better idea of what the hell is going on here?

I really do think this person is a legit Nazi. As in, not a troll. But they’re a super weird Nazi, who came to this conclusion in a way that we in the witch community should find REALLY CONCERNING.

As far as I can tell, this person jumped to conclusion: Nazism by way of hatred of the Abrahamic religions, from a pagan perspective.

Yes. Really. And can I get a show of hands, for how many of you have seen that hate for Christians and Jews in our community? Oh, all of you? You don’t say.

They seem to believe that Christianity = oppression of pagans, and it was invented by Jews as a form of Judaism that would be more suited to infiltrating “Aryan” nations. This, of course, gives them their tidy segue to anti-Semitism and general hatred of POC. And from there, they also have a reason to get into Holocaust denial, etc.

This is why they seem to be ok about LGBT people. That isn’t the perspective they came from, when trying to find a direction for their hate. They came from the perspective of hating the dominant faiths in their culture because they’re seen as “the enemy” of pagans. And this is EVERYWHERE in the pagan community, from $ilver Ravenwolf to the endless ignorant, “THEY STOLE OUR HOLIDAYS!” rants we all see (and Bree tirelessly debunks) every single sabbath.

Why do I find that so worrying?

Because it means that this person isn’t just crazy, trawling our community like this. There are a huge number of uninformed people who are PRIMED to be groomed for hate, if only someone gives them just the right push.

In this historical environment of extremism, the ignorant railing of young pagans against other religions is more than just a phase a teenager hopefully grows out of when they become more informed. It leaves them vulnerable to recruitment by fascists.

We need to get a handle on this. Quickly.

^^^^

Damn right, particularly considering how  A.) Nazism built a lot of it’s early base in occultist/quasipagan circles, and it actually constructed a lot of it’s appeal off of a fictionalized interpretation of germanic pagan ideas, hell Himmler wanted to create an nationalistic quasipagan cult to replace Hitler’s equally monstrous “Positive Christianity”. and B.) Racism and Nationalism are seriously pervasive in folk, pagan, and occult circles, and Neo-Nazis have capitalized on this accordingly: for instance, the Black Metal scene has a serious racism/nazism problem, National Socialist Black Metal or NSBM is an ACTUAL GENRE NAME. Furthermore, the Neo-Volkischt movement which tends towards occultism and neo-paganism is one of the more active neo Nazi sectors. It should go without saying, but I AM NOT SAYING PAGAN RELIGIONS(barring any sects whose central practices and tenets are racist/nazi ideology) ARE THE PROBLEM, EXCEPTIONALISM, FASCISM, AND RACISM ARE

This nazi made a new blog naziwitch.tumblr.com <- go ahead and block the piece of shit

Okay but here’s the thing. If you’re European or American Christianity is the dominant religion. It has been used to justify countless genocides against not only pagans but also Jews and anyone who doesn’t agree with a nation’s particular view on Christianity. Yes, most people believe that Wicca and Witchcraft are a modern religion popularized by Gardner, but there are some connections to pre-Christian religions and cultures that were persecuted for literally centuries under Christian leadership. I don’t think it’s fair to blame Pagans for nazism because they’re reacting to a very real history of oppression for people they feel they have a cultural connection with.

I don’t think anyone here is blaming pagans for nazism? They were just explaining why they’re, unfortunately, connected

I think they’re trying to point out a consistent frustration with dominant culture and correlate it to systemic racism. Like rather than saying some nazis might be pagans they’re saying pagan criticism of dominant religions leads to nazism and I disagree with that analysis.

I think you’re misunderstanding my intent. I’m not saying paganism leads to Nazism. I’m saying the negative feelings many young pagans have towards the Abrahamic religions creates a vulnerability, for a combination of reasons (brainwashing is complex!):

  1. Most of the people with this anger against dominant religion are young and vulnerable.
  2. They probably DO experience a real feeling of alienation from the dominant culture, which makes them even more vulnerable.
  3. This group of people is coming in and saying, “You’re totally right. In fact, you’re NOT GOING FAR ENOUGH. These people who you feel alienated from with are actually EVIL. *cue transition of hatred for Christians, to hatred of Jews, to Holocaust denial, etc… brainwashing is a process!”

Nazis looking to recruit prey on the VULNERABLE. That’s how cults work.

Just because young pagans may be experiencing real social problems even in modern times doesn’t mean we should ignore the people who are using that to promote a literal modern genocide. We can appeal to mainstream society to stop bullying and be more accepting, while simultaneously condemning the hatefulness that some pagans shoot back. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

And @gamayunsteward brings up another really good example, with the metal scene. Lots of people getting into alt scenes are young, vulnerable, and ostracized which, once again, is a perfect hunting ground for Nazis.

And look, man. I’m a practicing witch and my boyfriend is a hardcore metalhead. And we’re both antifa as fuck. But we’re also older, more secure in our views, and just generally not going through the same shit we were when we were 18.

And in both the magic scene and the metal scene, they ALSO have a strong history of resistance, punk activism, and political progressivism.

When you’re young, vulnerable, and ostracized, you can choose to work for betterment, or you can choose to work for destruction. That’s why the same scenes are responsible for both the creators and the destroyers of society. We’re motivated by our non-belonging.

Pointing out the clear-as-day connection between Nazism and paganism is not saying that paganism is somehow at fault for Nazism, or has a fundamentally Nazi underpinning. It’s pointing out the same Achilles heel that all scenes full of the ostracized have: our ranks are filled with the vulnerable. And we need to protect them.

The Nazis are coming in and saying they will do a better job protecting them than we can. We need to prove them wrong.

Fun Facts

Easter has NOTHING to do with:

  • Ishtar
  • Ostara
  • Pagan holidays
  • A goddess called Eostre (Bede was a speculating idiot and he’s the original source for this nonsense)

Easter has EVERYTHING to do with:

  • The Jewish celebration of the Passover seder
  • The Christian celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ

Nobody stole our shit. Easter was never pagan to begin with. Rabbit was considered “fish” by the medieval Catholic Church so that people could eat it during the 40 days of Lent, and eggs laid during the Lenten fast were hardboiled for preservation and then eaten during the breaking of the fast on Easter Sunday. That’s why we have bunnies and eggs.

Stop conflating Easter with pagan holidays, and get the fuck out of here with that casual anti-semitism.

Thank you and good day.

All of this.
